S4 Avant/Saloon differences, or year differences

Post by Carps » Sun Dec 14, 2003 11:29 am

I have just been looking at some 1999 S4 saloon pictures, and noticed that the battery and brake fluid reservoir are on opposite sides of the car to my avant. Everything else appears to be in the same place.
Seems odd that these items would be round the other way.
Both cars are right hand drive, and both are facelift models.
Here is a picture of the saloon

If you look at the wipers, this is a left hand drive car!

But it's not a left hand drive car.
Here is the interior of the same vehicle - it belongs to Joules

Take a look at the wipers, they are the oposite way around

I must admit, I thought you may be on to something there, but they are the same way around as my wipers. And that is the correct way around for a RHD car - the full sweep on the drivers side clears right to the edge.

Nope, I agree, that first pic is not the same as the others - it is surely LHD, that's why the brake servo is on that side of the car.

That does seem to be the case. You can just about make out the wipers and they are the other way around.
Looks like Joules was not showing detail pictures of his own car I'm surprised he hasn't joined in to shed light on the mystery...

This is LHD with RHD conversion.
