Starting to get bored with the a4 cab now so might start to look at the S4 avants again.

Values seem to be settling down to c£35k for demo/6 month old cars and look good value compared to the RS4 option IMO

Hi All,

new ebony black S4 saloon arriving Jan 9th, just a basic spec. model but with leather, arm rest and CD changer. I'm wondering how much different it will be from my old A4 1.8 T Sport. Judging by the comments in this forum I'm in for a treat.

I was intrigued about the GPS verified 160 MPH+. Can anyone else confirm that the limiter is not kicking in at 155? It'll be a while before I get over to Germany to find out if it's true or not...

Anyone else had supply lead time problems? I had to do some fancy footwork to improve on delivery timescales. The rumour is that new build units have been significantly delayed (until back end of April?) due to the ECO4 emission regulations that kick in for all manufacturers Jan. 04.

Darren
PS. Any thoughts on super unleaded vs normal unleaded fuel for everyday use?

I have an ebony black avant on order, due in Jan as well. Haven't heard that it has gone back yet but haven't spoken to dealer for oooh.. must be at least a week now No mention of it then... don't worry me.

Merry Christmas!

Like Gareth I'm also interested in the reasons behind the B6 S4 -> B5 RS4 swap, if you feel like sharing your thoughts on the subject. Was it mainly the 'porpoising' suspension as you mentioned above?

Cheers, Richard

Viffer and Gareth
My main reason to swop the S4 B6 for B5 RS4 is the poorly damped suspension, quite unacceptable in a car of its power-if you`re planning to use it.As I have said my old S6 2.2 manual was the same until Bilsteins were fitted (front only)So I turned my back on the S4 because no after market was available. The RS4 ,in three different test drives, was more like what I was used to- a nice taut car.Report in new year.
