For those running 275x30x19 Goodyear Eagle F1's
Just a quick reminder to check your tyres.
I've taken advantage of a rare break in the weather and found they've been rubbing badly on the upper arm. Only came to light this morning when I checked the car over in the first gap in the weather I've had in a while.
I haven't been up to much apart from plodding up and down the motorway (fully laden) over Christmas as well as a few runs to Southampton earlier this week.
The car is still running its original DRC on original rims and also has the phaeton air ducts installed.
Great timing for a set of rubber but thankful I caught it without the family in the car.
Stay safe.

Thats a common problem on the rs6 .. It's not a rubbing issue..

quick search has shown up a very technical "knobbly issue" so I'd assumed it was that. Can't drive too far so probably scoot up to Wheels in Motion, fit new rubber and get it checked.
I'll give you a buzz next time I'm up - probably overdue a check over anyway !

Looks like rubbing on the Knobbly bit" to me. You mention running heavy laden - I wonder if that, combined with slightly low pressure could cause the tyre to flex under load and catch.

I've had this with Dunlop SP9000 (I think they were original fit on mine), I'm sure it's just camber.

I had these on mine 255/35/19, and it was my O/S that was completley shot. The N/S was fineRupert wrote:I've had this with Dunlop SP9000 (I think they were original fit on mine), I'm sure it's just camber.

RE: Re: RE: For those running 275x30x19 Goodyear Eagle F1
thanks for the heads up. For everyday running, they're at 40psi to compensate for the stiffer ride. I've taken the 255's from Camskill to replace them all round but will get it aligned when they're fitted towards the end of the week.
I didn't appreciate the tolerances involved I suppose and will just park 6 inches from the kerb to try and save the wheels !
The strange thing was that I didn't really notice any issues. The tyres look like they've been wearing evenly, with the exception of the small strip on the inside edge.
I'll post up any findings over the next day or so. thanks for the pointers...

It's so far in that it must be the 'knobbly bit' surely? That part of the tyre can't possibly touch the road, so it must be the knobbly bit or something else.
I'd be interested to see how rounded the corner profile of this tyre vs the Vreds. as in Slimmyreeds post. Maybe slightly more vulnerable on the F1s if they are just a bit squarer?

If it is not rubbing against the "knobby", what is it then? I have same with 245 wide Kumhos... (OK, I know, but they were dirt cheap!grizz wrote:Thats a common problem on the rs6 .. It's not a rubbing issue..

So, 4 x 255 Vreds ordered wednesday, arrived 8:45am on Thursday and just got them fitted. Superb service from Camskill.
I got them to do an alignment check and the toe was out on the o/s/f. All now balanced and correct. There's obviously a little more clearance around the front but thanks to Grizz, I'll get it looked at in the near future as I'm getting paranoid - 65k on the original DRC....
The rears are going up for sale as they've still got 5mm on them - I'll put an ad in the for sale section.
Stay safe !

I have just ordered a set of Vreds from camskill.
I normally run the GYEF1assy (6 sets now), but thought- what the hell, I will give them a go, and at £150 a corner good value too, but will I loose the grip and performance that I got with the goodies.......?
I will let you know!
