HEEEEEEEELP me please

Post by kcsun » Tue Dec 16, 2003 7:39 pm

It is with great dispair that I have dropped myself so deep in the poo I may never recover

Over the last week I have been telling everyone that I wish to go to Taipan's day out in Le Mans on 28th March next year.

At a family gathering last weekend I did the same but was greeted by a couple of strange looks - but did I question them - NO

Last night my other half Clare (grovel, grovel) asked what I would like for christmas.
After a lot of thought I said -
You can pay for my trip to the Le Mans trackday next march

Oh, and what day is that then Ken, was the reply

Its Sunday the 28th why?

At this point I could see some agitation from the other side of the room

Light blue touch paper, stand clear, blast off

"So you don't want to spend MY birthday with me and you would rather be with your mates and that car eh"

OOP's

All suggestions gratefully received as talking, pleading & offerings of a new credit card are falling on deaf ears
(incidentally I have known Clare ( ) for 13 years and had not forgotten till now)

Will my life ever be the same again?

Please. Please Help

I think a week off the internet and you're not allowed to drive the RS4 either...

Good luck!!

I think the only way out is to keep on playing the forgotten game and then at the last moment throw a massive surprise party with all your family and friends.
Hopefully Clare will think you never really forgot but it was all a ploy on your part to throw her of the scent.
Obviously this means you cannot go to France which in reality you would not have committed to if you had not had a brain storm , or would you have committed anyway?
Good luck Ken

I've got it.

Tell her you got your years mixed up

No, wait a minute, that won't work, will it

Karl's idea is the best. Stick with the trackday as long as you dare, then tell her you have cancelled it, all for her AND throw a big surprise party.

Good luck.

And we could all turn up to make it look genuine
Second thoughts................. maybe not such a smart idea
Does she like diamonds? gold necklace? matching diamond earings and pendant?

Think the surprise party is the best option, and better make sure it's a BIG presant or it's washing dishes and visiting the mother inlaw every weekend for the rest of the year

Well the French are to blame... again...

The idea of the surprise party is really cool but make sure she doesn't make plans on her own, like "he goes to Le Mans, I go to Brazil". That could be a party spoiler

Fly her to Paris for the weekend instead...

Yep, that would be my choice too (except a different location). I'd probably go for somewhere a bit warmer, but somewhere where you'll have to endure a bit of her relaxation therapy (probably shopping !)

Arrange for a long weekend somewhere the weekend before LeMans, and just say you are taking her out for a meal or something, but go to the airport instead.
With a bit of luck she'll be so pleased she'll either let you go to LM, or go with you

Btw, I have been in a similar situation, but what I'd consider to be 10 times worse
Our motorbike broke down in Budapest and we were playing catchup to the rest of our group all the way across Europe for a couple of days. I had arranged for a surprise birthday party for the wife, but since the group were split this didn't happen, and in the heat of the chase I forgot all about her birthday (until she reminded me midmorning by getting off the bike in floods of tears).

She was not a happy bunny I can tell you. Even the cup of coffee and cream bun in the service station didn't help !
When we caught up with the rest of the group in Orange they had arranged a suite for us, and a special meal.
Didn't help me though - I was still in the dog house.

Here's another one you could try (I did this too).
Tell her you'll take her out shopping for her present, but don't tell her how much she can spend, and tell her she can only have one thing. This drove my wife nuts as everything she picked up and asked if she could have it I said 'yes, if you want it'. She always put it back down incase she saw something better in the next shop
We eventually brought a ruby ring for lots of dosh, but this was some time later
p.s. Don't try this anywhere near Tiffanys or the Ferrari showroom !!!

Cheers,
John.

relayed the situation to wife whose comment was along the lines of...... so what's the problem, you'll be off to France!!
As the last Crispin meeting was due at the end of november, on her birthday, she was quite prepared to be on her own ( I offered to bring her with me ) but Daz or whoever changed it to december , she was grateful.........but had been resigned.

Well ChrisG I think I would try to hang on to your lady

Had a bit of a brainwave based on the above though

Perhaps Eric knows of a good - no sorry - excellent - no sorry superb (at least 6******) hotel nearby where I could treat her to a relaxing weekend break for her birthday spa massage & all that old malaky (coincidently dear, it is also near the track and you don't want me loitering while you pamper yourself now do you?)

Anyone else who then cannot get away without the wife can join her and the boys are all in the good books again

sweet
