I've been watching DVLA for years looking for S41 REE

(for those who don't know, my girlfriend is called Sairee)

But apparently they don't release all numbers, bummer!

I'm still undecided though if personalised plates are cool or naff, I've been toying with D8NMC (hopefully reads Dan Mc) for ages but at £700 I reckon it's a bit steep and as I said I can't decide if they are cool or not

Perhaps we should have a poll: <FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="http://forums.rs246.com/forums/dopoll.php"><INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="pollname" VALUE="1071655915toasty">

<input type="radio" name="option" value="2" />They are NAFF!

They are cool if you can read what they are meant to say easily, without mis-spacing or 'looking at it at a 45 degree angle whilst squinting'
Otherwise they are

!

I feel the same way- I was going to bid for F45 TRS but I was glad I did'nt- I think it went for £2700. I've been looking for a R56 number for ages but the DVLA have stopped at R55!!- I did see RS 6666 available but I think the reserve was £15k

The problem is do you buy a personal reg to represent your name, or the car. Mixing the two can prove to be a pain if circumstances change.

I personally wouldn't spend any money on a registration where you have to seriously manipulate the figures to have a desired effect. When you purchase a reg number from either a private seller/trader or from the dvla itself, you dont own the reg you own the right to display it on your vechile, dvla owns all registration numbers. If you are stopped by the police 3 times for defaced/skewiff numbers dvla will take the plate off your vechile and you will probably be punished by the courts somehow (points and a fine?).

My plate cost £50 from a private seller but has cost me well over £600 putting it on retention and swapping it from car to car.
Too much is bad.
Plenty is better.

It will find it's way onto a red Ferrari one day where it really belongs, but not before it's been on the black Gallardo.

That's one of the (many) good things about New Zealand you can have any (non offensive) combination of 7 letters and numbers

I just can't see the point of having a number plate that sort of spells out your name (why would you want anyone following you to know its 5T3V3 driving) or having one that sort of spells out the type of car you drive. (doesnt the boot badge do that job?)

Wouldn't it be easier to write your name in crayon across the rear window?

I had better go an hide.
Standard RS4 (is it the only standard one left?)

RS03AUD, RS03VAG, RS03CAR would be ideal for a RS3 if one is to be built (03 reg)

RS04AUD, RS04VAG, RS04CAR would be ideal for a RS4 (04 reg)

SL55AMG (55 reg) ideal for SL55 AMG Mercedes other`s can be done to like CL55, CL65, SL65 etc

I still havent found my dream plate which was allocated to a 1998 R Civic. R12VAN

The problem I've found with my private plate is that it can make you stand out for the wrong reasons. e.g. road rage.

Especially if you travel on the same route regularly and you upset someone, knowingly or not, then before you know it the "there's that pric* from last week who didn't indicate" etc kicks in !
