Which insurer?

Post by Paul-RS » Wed Dec 10, 2003 4:35 pm

3 near identicle quotes, £10 and £60 savings

same quotes same cover, mods listed, protected etc etc....

Directline.. £1067 £300 Acc, £150 F+T excesses (Renewal)

Priviledge ..£1006 £300 Acc, £150 F+T excesses

BarclayCard Direct £1056 £100 acc and fire and theft excess.

im tempted to defect to Barclays Direct, ie to get away from the Directline who are not rated for accident repair etc.. .

Any words of wisdom?

try tesco's, they might sound shat, but they were over £1000 quid cheaper for me on my S4.. i've had a mate crash and claim off them, he had no problems and the work was done very well.. let me know what they say if you do try them..

i am not 100% sure, but i thought Tesco use direct line for the cover. if i remember,Tesco was slightly (and i mean slightly)cheaper than Direct Line when i asked for a quote.
i may still change over, because you can get clubcard points when you take out a policy.

Tescos were hundreds cheaper for me on both my S4 and my RS4. In fact they were the one and only insurance company in 16 years of driving that actual came back with a lower renewal premium last year

£425 for the S4 this includes volintary £500 excess
£520 for the RS4 £250 excess including the girfriend this time.

Just looking into this myself.
Direct Line lot were not bad at £700 for a standard S3. But when I change to proposed RS4 in April/May, the anual cost would be in theory £1300. Admiral only want £150 a year extra for the RS, which is much more reasonable.
Norwich Union wanted over £1300 just for the S3!

Thank god for online quotes to keep you busy at work

thanks. i think im more or less decided on Barclays.

greenlight wanted either a tracker or cat 1 alarm for the value of the vehicle, so even if cheaper, that would bump up the price.

Sorry, yes, forgot to mention that, that did make me thing again... another 500 quid ... but I decided in the end to go with that, since the last thing I wanted was it to be nicked and not recovered, and since I want to keep the car till its life ends ...

Also, for two years I was with Elephant. They gave me a VERY good price, but no mods allowed really...

I've just renewed with "Elephant" and they were significantly cheaper than anywhere else I tried. They originally quoted me £774 for my RS4, which went up to just over £800 when I added business usage...still not bad though

Yeh i was with direct line, about 1000 pounds. Got a quote from elephant just over 500 with no mods, and aberdeenshire post code one speeding offence and girlfrend as second driver. So as you can guess i'm with elephant now the the high call cost and the e-mail comunication, seem a small price to pay for a 500 pound saving. bit hacked off with direct line, i was quite willing to stay with them if they reduced the preimiume abit, but there responce was we don't price match, that was it didn't seem intrested in keeping my custom, well i say f*&k em and there dog.
