Request for gents with a data logger:
new runs, average of 3:
25F, high humid, driver alone, 60% fuel load
40-120 mph in 4th gear, my avg 15.8 sec
average of 4 mag tests using ALL gears (2, 3 & 4) for the same range ~13.5
AM & S using 4th alone ~16.1, so mine was faster
my runs 60-100, 4th gear alone 7.5 sec up a grade (~3900 to 6500 rpm), not even peak power
avg of the 4 mags using 2nd & 3rd til redline 6.6 sec
AM & S using 4th alone, >8 sec, so mine was a good bit faster...

2 more runs, all gears, 0-120 mph, 23F, low humid, 1/3 tank of gas, driver only
both runs were 14.1, 1 fumbled shift (hit rev limiter a few times also)
C&D 16.0
R&T 16.3
R&T 15.3 (911 comparo)
AM & S 16.3 (est., extrapolated from 0-200 km/hr, ratioing 180-200 km/hr)
average 15.9 sec
I timed to 125 mph (to account for speedo error)
the correction factor for temp and humid is ~3.5%, my adjusted time 14.6
even if I'm off a sec, ie speed, reaction, etc., I doubt it, but still <16 sec, and the same as the tests...
I launched so hard first run it ejected the manual into my knees, lol
I am trying to convince myself that my car has a power problem.......unsuccessfully

it WAS a Corporate car, lol, that's who was the first owner AoA (Audi of America)aidanjaye wrote:Maybe you were a lucky bunny and got the Audi press car - with the extra horses - LOL.
Seriously though - as soon as weather gets better will try your 3000/8000 in 3rd gear using the in car timer. Had a muck about with it today and its easy to use.
the initial stamp is from AoA Auburn Hills
I think it was a photo/training car, perhaps some test, but I can't find it in any articles...although one looks the same, but came out before mine was built...

Driving along yesterday my RS4 was feeling particularly lively with an ambient temperature of just 1 degree celcius. It was straining at the leash so I thought I would give this a go. The roads were nice and clear and free of ice so I was able to record four times for 3000 rpm to 8000 rpm in 3rd gear:
run 1: 7.5s
run 2: 7.3s
run 3: 7.4s
run 4: 7.2s
I have a saloon, it was unladen with just me (85kg) and half a tank of Shell V-Power. No mods, but recent oil change and treatment with Wynns Direct Injection Power 3.
Warning to others who have not tried this yet - it is a lot of fun and quite addictive

Right Aurthur - finally got a road without any snow:
Zero degrees, wet road, driver and passenger, ever so slightly slopped down hill. 3000-8000 rpm in 3rd gear - 7.9sec.
On return journey, same road although now slightly uphill and with the weekly shopping - 8.5 secs.
On a dry level road without passengers and shopping, should easily achieve consistant 8.2 secs.
Take it figures mean my engine is tickity boo?
Also noted my car uses zero oil. Maybe some peoples cyclonic thingys aren't working as well as others?

stock is 8.4
8 flat using all the gears!
I just ran it again, 6 times:
6 runs, rolling in 3rd gear, 2000 rpm, timed 3000-8100 (limiter), 36-96 mph
26F, 1200' ASL, 49% RH, 30.06 "hg, 11F dew point, <5 mph wind, ~5/8th fuel
driver only, very flat, ran both directs 3 times each...in less than 5 minutes
very accurate and deliberate...
7.6
7.7
7.7
7.9
7.8
8.0
avg ~ 7.8
avg of best 3 ~ 7.7, adjusting for temp ~8 flat
anything around 8 flat for this test would imho indicate the car is fine...

incline makes a big impactaidanjaye wrote:Right Aurthur - finally got a road without any snow:

I would guess your numbers ~8.2 or so, spec is ~8.4
so it would seem you are good to go
I bet with level ground and some practice 8 flat is doable
I start at 2000 and squeeze the throttle so 100% = 3000

I'me sure that would pick up a couple of 10'thP_G wrote:Tht's probably the difference for me, I am probably at only 50-75% of throttle when I break 300rpm and then foot down, might be able to shave another 10th or 2 off my times.
start at 2000, squeeze so 3000 a bit <100%

That's one quick car you have BillyBilly wrote:Now the roads have cleared thought I'd give this a bash earlier this evening.
5ºC, Saloon, Driver only - 95KG, Full tank V-Power (minus 20 miles), level road, dry.
1st run - 7.7s
2nd run - 7.7s
3rd run - 7.7s
Averaage of err...7.7s I guess, and your right Glyn, it is addictive

much better than stock 8.4Billy wrote:Now the roads have cleared thought I'd give this a bash earlier this evening.

actually better than all gears at 8 flat!
even after adjusting for temp ~7.9
how many miles, were the valves ever cleaned?
if the numbers are ~accurate, can anyone say the car is down on power?
or that cleaning the valves make it faster?

so Billy's car was a modded car?Gumball0r wrote:If Billy's car is Pippyrips old car with 431 hp. I truly don't care about carbon in my valves.
1.5 degrees celcius, 90 kg driver, full tank of V-power, dry almost level road (going very slightly upwards), no mods
7,6 sec.
7,8 sec.
7,7 sec.
7,7 sec.
and yours is unmodded and as fast?
it was a bit cooler for you, maybe 0.05 sec adjustment at most...
but the slight incline would negate that...say yours was 7.8 vs 7.7
essentially even...
how many miles on yours?
valves ever cleaned?
