100 octane fuel in an RS4

Post by Surfjunkie197 » Tue Dec 22, 2009 7:22 pm

Hey all,

I am currently in Switzerland in my new (to me) RS4 and loving it. The Shell V power fuel and equivalents is 100 octane as oposed to 98. Anyone got any experience of using this and can I use it as the handbook says 98 only and I am currently using 95 - both fuels are cheaper in Switzerland than the UK (£1 a litre for 100) which gives you an idea of how overpriced our fuel is.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Your RS4 will like it - no problems.

Stop using 95 Octane as soon as possible if you don't want to find out real soon how much a new engine costs!!!

Ive used BP Ultimate here before - which was 102. Wouldnt say I noticed a huge difference, but definitely better than anything sub 98 for your engine.
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.

the other night i filled up with tesco 99 from the pay at the pump as it was late and within a couple of minutes my car felt terrible, throttle response was lumpy and delayed and flat and the torque felt lower . I done a round trip to wakefield. On the way back i could only fill up with BP 95 and then filled up 5 or so minutes later the car felt better but not 100% . I then filled up with tesco 99 at a busy pump during the day and bang back to how it should feel smooth throttle response and alot of torque . Has any one else had this experience with petrol ?

The thing is - we only go with what the sellers tell us - the sh*te they could be supplying is anyones guess?
Hopefully when we fill up with say, V-Power, it is that and not some junk destind for tractors.

i use V-POWER 100, BP 98. MIGROL 98 or ESSO 98 but never 95... i surely feel the difference between 95 and 100...
but 98 and 100 are the same for me... i live in Zürich.. :beerchug: wilkomen in der schweiz.

I often use Tesco 99, but I always buy from busy garages (Tesco Extra) and I've found that it can give a slightly more aggressive throttle response than Shell V-Power - certainly nothing to suggest it is anything other than at least the 99 octane it claims.
