Picture Please: Driver's Footwell & pedals for RHD Manua

Post by decksurgeon » Fri Oct 30, 2009 7:54 am

Greetings from Singapore!

This is a long shot...... but a couple of mates and myself are interested in obtaining pictures of the driver's side footwell of a RHD B8S4 in Manual.
We have at present only RHD S-tronic versions are available.

All of us have ordered a manual version and it is being built in the factory right now (delivery Dec09 / Jan10) . We were wondering if the RHD Manual S4's would have a cramped pedal spacing?

We'd be most appreciative if a UK RHD Manual S4 owner could perhaps post or send up a picture of the footwell.

The reasoning is: On the LHD Manual S4 there is ample space in the LHS footwell for: acc pedal+ brake pedal + clutch pedal + Foot rest

On RHD S-tronic car, the gearbox has a large budge on the RHSide because of the extra angled shaft going forward from the torsen differential to the front of the gearbox face.

This bulge means that the footwell space on the RHD car is smaller. For the S-tronic there are only 2 pedals + footrest so this is not an issue.
But, If you forced a 3rd clutch pedal into the same space, there is very
little distance between the 3 pedals + footrest!

Is there a foot rest to start with in the Manual RHD S4??

we await the delivery of the first few manual S4s in Singapore, heck we cant change the order now....but it would be nice to know

thank you in advance & kind regards

:-)

I have a A4 2.0T S-line but the pedal positioning will be the same.

There is a smaller space than is ideal for the foot rest. It's not as good as the B6 and B7. They've also screwed with the positioning so that the three pedals are offset from the seat. You notice it first time you drive but then you forget about it but it's certainly not straight. I'll try and get pics over the weelend.
