RS4 at Audi Garage after 4 weeks - Clutch pipe problem??

Post by Subsea78 » Sun Jul 05, 2009 10:27 am

Hi there - In the middle of May 09 I purchased a 2006 Audi RS4 in sprint blue, with below average mileage and a Full Audi main dealer service history
I purchased the car from a supposedly independant reputable garage who provided an apparent all singing and all dancing after market warranty.
After covering a little over 500 miles in four weeks the clutch peddle decided to lock itself against the floor and only unlocking itself when the car came to idle - the failed clutch pipe has damaged the clutch as well as the flywheel, which I witnessed this morning for myself down at the Audi garage.
I put my car straight into my local Audi dealer. Having spoken to Audi UK they stated that they had been no such issue with any other RS4's and as such would not be looking to cover the works or provide any good will.
I have since spoken to a couple of Audi dealers and also noticed on a couple of forums that there was an issue with the RS4 clutch pipe but only certain chasis numbered RS4's were recalled by Audi.
Does anybody know anything about this recall? Has anybody had the same problem with their RS4? and if so, what was the outcome?
I have once again spoken to Audi UK with my findings and they have promised to come back to me on Monday.
At present I am looking at a bill of around 2k for a car that I had owned at the time for four weeks - when the clutch pipe failed.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Apart from the clutch pipe failure and potential 2k bill - the car is awesome and I cant wait to get it back. [/img]

you are in the wrong forum section ... you need RS4 B7 .... most of us don't read other sections.

There WAS a problem with the clutch pipe for early cars and the dealer should be able to confirm from your vin if this was fitted to your car.

If you search the B7 section, you will find the appropriate info.

I suspect there is more to your problem than you are posting. If the fault is a genuine failure, Audi should cover it no problem .. your car has a 3 yr warranty. If the failure is due to the car being ragged with signs of heat etc ... well you need to go back to the people who sold the car to you.

HTH

I just checked your reg ... your car is March 06 ... so outside the warranty ... you need to go back to the company that sold you the car.
