There are some stunning retrimmed areas in that cabin...Didn't know where to look first.

Pioneer looks great and quite factory looking as its flush fitting.

Who does the steering wheel retrims or are they a bought in item ?

Thanks for the kind words!

Yes I wanted the DD unit to be flush fitting as possible, and factory OEM look. The Pioneer does stick out slightly at the bottom, but this is the design of it, plus where the buttons are located. In all honesty the Kenwood, would probably fit even more flush, as I have one of these in my Mk5 Golf. But this model Pioneer is newer. Got to be seen in the flesh anyhow, as it is a great fit.

Steering wheel was done for me in Japan in normal punched leather. But now recently has been re-covered in Alcantara to match my new interior!

Virdee - A Kenwood/Pioneer 2DIN unit - how much is involved in fitting? How much would someone charge do you think? Approx?

Just trying to get a feel for whether to do this or not.

There's a Kenwood DDX 6029 on the Bay...

Mine was £110 fitted inc the facia plate and adaptors. That was by the leading audio fitter in the area though so you could probably go cheaper.

From previous posts on here, none of the available off the shelf fascia adapters fit the RS4 properly

I don't have no experience myself, as I wanted a Piano fascia, hence just got my company to fabricate me one from scratch.

The actual Pioneer unit I used fits striaght in, with the cage supplied. Really neat. You'll need some wiring adapters too.

I think there is a lot of cloak and daggers stuff to fitting these radios. If my recent experience is anything to go by. I too was quoted £100 to fit a RNS -d sat nav unit into my B5. I was going from a single din to a double, i had fitted all the cage etc and just left the hole where i wanted the nav to go. I thought i would just have a go myself, and would you believe it the plugs only go in one way round they all match up the unit clicks into place and everything works didn't even take 2 minutes. I believe that with these after market units the adaptor plugs supplied by the manufacturers(kenwood or Pioneer) will be no different.

How the unit actually secures into the existing cage may be a different matter...maybe others who have done so could comment....

Well radio connections these days are ISO (International Standard), so like you say all aftermarket units have the same connections

As said this particular Pioneer unit fitted with the cage supplied perfectly into the B5 centre console.

Just had to get the fascia made up

I think as you say The facia is the stumbeling Block in non factory installs! Virdee yours looks very neat but how much are those facias and can you get them for other makes and do they clip into place using the factory locators ?
Thanks
