S button and fuel consumption

Post by kay » Sun Nov 29, 2009 8:10 pm

When S button is pressed, seats tighten up and exhaust flaps fully open up. The throttle response also sharpens up, but what does this exactly entail/mean...is it a sort of remap and does it cause the car to consume more fuel in S mode??

No it's not a remap, it just makes the throttle response sharper.

The only tests I've seen suggest that power actually drops by a few (4?) bhp in Sport mode.

Can't comment about a fuel consumption difference - I never drive with Sport mode off!

Pay a visit to MRC, then you will not be in any doubt about the difference the Sport button makes!

I dont know about anyone else but the noise inside is not that noticeable... but i gather it is a different story from the outside!!!

Is there anyway of making the seats remember exactly how hugging you want them to be? They do tighten in but what if I want to tighten them a bit more? cheers

You can set them to be as tight as you want when you press the sports button?

You can on mine...

Yours is probably switched off. You have to go into the computer and ensure the sport setting has the seat box ticked.

It is ticked and they do tighten but it is only a small amount... i want to get them to tighten in more when I press the button. Some think there is a way of doing this...?

I'm sure if you're in the computer, you can set the level that they squeeze so that when you press the button it goes from the widest setting to your tailored one?

I heard that you press and hold the SET button for X amount of seconds, then this will set the setting for the seats, this information is held in the key fob also. I could never get it to work, im sure this is for just Recaro memory seats, however I could be wrong, it something I have not really looked into.

The Recaros don't have adjustable side bolsters, and with the memory seat option you save the seat (and mirror) positions using the memory switches in the door pocket.
