RS4 November 06 56 Plate purchase - advice please

Post by MarkyMark01 » Wed Nov 25, 2009 10:22 pm

Hi all - I'm new here but am just looking at buying the above car from an Audi dealer. It's covered under the Audi approved Used deal and they are offering 2 years free servicing (but I am guessing that is only labour)
Car has done 27,000 miles but I have noticed that some RS4's have chrome exhausts and this one has black ones (or they are really dirty in the pics) and I was wondering......
A) What warranty work should have been done - I read that front brakes and shock absorbers can give trouble?
B) What model is it?
C) Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks so much for any advice
Thanks
Mark

check if the DRC has been replaced under warranty
the black exhausts will be the black optics pack...has it got a black front grill ?

the 2 yr free servicing, can someone enlighten me, isnt this limited to two years or 20k miles? and so as the RS 4 is on variable servicing, in two years you'll only get 1 service ?

Variable servicing is optional on the RS4 and is the wrong option, the oil needs to be changed at least every 4-5k miles if you want to protect the engine.

Thanks for that - yes have just checked and the grille surround is indeed black - I hadn't noticed that before!
What else is different about the black optics pack?
Also do all RS4's have th esame seats?
Sorry to sound thick but what is DRC? I want to sound like I know my onions when I go to the dealer on Saturday!
Thanks for the advice

so, you can insist to the dealer its every 10k and thus get 2 free services

something tells me not...

I agree, I'm sure they have it covered in the small print, but the fact remains you can ask Audi to put the car on fixed servicing and 10k is way too long between oil changes.

Thanks a lot for that - I'll speak to the dealer and get them to agree to 2 services - I'll only do about 5 - 6k a year so do you guys think that one service a year will be ok? If not, is it a case of simply doing the fluids 6 monthly, or is there more that really should be done in between annual services. I'm no stranger to the garage, as I'm just getting rid of a Mitubishi Evo 8 which was on 4500 mile servce intervals!
Thanks so much for the advice and help - this looks to be a great forum.

I think mate that if you drive longer journeys every day ie over 30-40 miles you would need less services until car tells you, however if its short blasts it would need a regular one ie oils after 5k. think its to do with the FSi technology.

hope you understand what i mean.

I am also very close to buying one... I thought the 2yr free servicing is only available with Audi finance?

Thanks Mac
Yeah the car will only be doing short stuff so I guess an oil change at 5k will be the sensible thing - thanks for the advice.

Yes I understand that the servicing is only available with Audi finance. Not a problem for me as I'm poor and need their services!!!

I disconnect the oil servicing from the rest of the service items.

i.e., I have my oil changed every 4-5K, but leave the car on the AVS schedule and watch the DIS to tell me when the car is otherwise due a service.

Best of both worlds IMHO.

Its the oil that takes a beating in this application...

No, they came with the option of buckets or Recaro sport seats.
