Headrest screens into an RS6

Post by Golffather » Tue Nov 17, 2009 6:00 pm

The car in question has an Alpine IVA-W502R 7" DVD/MP3/CD unit fitted with iPod interface and Bluetooth.

My question is if I want headrest screens fitted should I use the units DVD ability to send video signals to the screens or get an independant DVD player for the rears?

Also if I use the main units DVD ability will i then loose the ability to do anything else with the main unit, other than watch the DVD in it?

In terms of the screens - what size is best for the RS6 headrests (6.5 or 7")?

How much should be budgeted for the rear screens, player, wiring, and fitting?

Thanks

Hi, I just posted some pics and info in the RS6 forum.

I found that with the RNS-E we can have T.V. on the Rear screens (they put their headphones on so we can't hear whatever they're watching) but only listen to the radio in the front which is ok but not ideal (although I haven't really spent ages fiddling around with it so it may be possible to play an audio cd). When they are using the PS for DVD or games then we can use the RNS-E for any function.

So again separate units is probably better also worth considering the damage that fitted screens could cause to rear passengers in an accident !!
