warning light... not in my manual :(

Post by klauster » Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:19 am

I had a warning light flash on yesterday, its not in the manual, well not an exact like for like. It was amber and looked something like this (don't laugh) I haven't got time to draw it exactly

Light has now gone off, but just wondered what it might be, if it comes back...

Either that or you need to turn your jellyfish 90 degrees to the left.

An uneducated guess would be that it is highlighting an issue with your adaptive Xenon self levelling system.

It's the warning light for a fault in the headlight levelling system.

Probably needs resetting - if the prompts on VCDS (VAG-COM) don't give the instructions then try either the Ross Tech wiki http://wiki.ross-tech.com or the car procedures page on the Ross Tech website http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/x ... nment.html

I had this, turned out audi hadn't connected the connecting rod properly on the suspension when changing the front drc.
It's comes up intermittently and the lights behave very erractic !
The connecting rod is attached to the front nearside suspension.

This same symbol is now coming up on mine along with the EPC light. Do we have a solution or know what the problem is?

Thanks

EPC light..

Post by Angelo_Amato » Tue Nov 17, 2009 1:48 pm

can't help you with the Xenons but i know from experince with my wife's A2 a bit about the EPC light - i think it stands for engine power control and on our A2 basically comes on when the throttle body gets clogged up from the crankcase oil breather (discovered this after a long while  ) this was cured by using throttle body cleaner, and this i have to do around twice a year.

May not be the same of the RS but may be of similar sorts.

i also think EPC is a catchall for a number of possible faults.

I do also remember on a Mk4 golf that i worked on had an EPC light on, turned out it was a brake light bulb gone !! it came on again a while later and was the brake light switch that had failed (common problem) ! :?

The EPC light comes on when one or both of the engine ECUs detects a "fault" - which could be for one of many (tens) of reasons. So the only way to know what's causing the EPC light to come on is to get a VAG-COM scan done.
