RS6 Prices
I have been looking here and pistonheads for a month or so trying to find an rs6 avant in daytona or black with balck interiors. I am not in any particular rush so don't want to travel too far but prices seem to vary hugely. I realise as owners you will all hope your cars are worth a great deal but what do people honestly feel they are worth.
Looking on ph and Mac has just sold his car for £17k ish for what appears to be a good example. There is an 04 daytona which is £22k with low mileage but in need of a service shortly and 1 months warranty for sale privately and a similar car at a dealer albeit 1 year older at £19k. Surely someones price is flawed. I think the £22k car was recently £23k+ a month or so ago.
I'm just interested in opinions of actual values not what you want.
Any input appreciated.

I don't think you're going to get many unbiased opinions on value, or any owners talking down the value of their cars!

I know, that's always the tricky bit but people can be realistic quite often. I hope not to modify it or spend extra on it (ignoring services, broken parts etc). That was my plan with my other cars, S2000 which I have spent loads on and 996 which has a shiny new stereo and £500 worth of new red hoses.

I think low mileage mint examples are now so rare that DEALERS are putting them up for £20k+
but, I think private would struggle to achieve this, more like £17k mark
high milers I recon will go for £15k mark dealer, and will struggle to move at that price privately
obviously its give or take
I think there is an issue selling these privately, because, as RS 6 owners we know the pain of the cost to up keep these beast, and so when we spend money on tyres/brakes/services/repairs/warranty - we want "some" of it back on resale
but a buyer wont give a monkeys whats been spent on it and so wont give you anything back and will just look at "book" value
they'll soon feel the pain though

Don't discount the silver leather interior. I know "silver" doesn't sound very appealing, but it's nothing like silver. It really brightens up the interior though.
I thought I wanted black leather, but the silver has worn very well and does look quite classy.
If a car has been to Grizz or MRC you'll know it's been looked after.

I agree with David, there is no way on Gods earth I will get back anything like what I have poured into my car, so thats why it will rust first. I have no intention of selling it, I didn't put all of of my hard earned cash into it, and get the performance I have achieved for someone to come along and get all of my hard work, headaches, heart breaks and domestics for £15k- whic realistically is what the going rate is now.
I also agree with Rupert, I have the silver- infact, our cars are indentical, except his a cleaner......

Don't rush into buying and take your time and you should hopefully find what you are looking for.
I looked for six months and was tempted on a couple of occasions by low mileage cars of 24,000 and 28,000 miles but they where not really the car that I was looking for. Then by chance I struck lucky and came across what I was looking for which was a one owner low mileage car with full service history and I bought in January.
The mileage was amazingly low at 3,300 miles and I don't expect there are many if any out there like the one I found but there are low mileage ones out there.
I bought it from an Audi dealer at £22,000 with a three year warranty, a service including gearbox service, replacement cam belt, water pump, tyre pressure sensors and replaced DRC, albeit it has since been replaced by the "uprated" DRC under the Audi "goodwill" offer.
Since then I have covered 5,000 miles including one trip to the French Alps at Easter and another to the South of France in the Summer and it's brilliant.
Faults other than the DRC have been the steaming up of the windows due to the solar sunroof and the sensor but fixed with a repositioned sensor under warranty and twice the windows have opened by themselves !

You are very right that people think they will get back what they have spent and that is never the case. Good sensibly priced cars do seem to move very quickly though. I'm still not convinced by the silver, looks like it will be a pain to keep clean and one reason for the purchase is an imminent sprog, well 6 months or so. Don't know how well baby sick will blend with silver

Very lucky Stuart, as I said I am in no rush and should really sell my honda first, I just lack patience when it comes to getting a new car, will have to see some silver in the flesh. There have been a few cars which have seemed ideal apart from being avus silver. Have to keep looking

I have a 2 year old who was just a bump when i bought mine.
my interior has had every kind of fluid that babies are good at producing (that sounds awful- but you know what I mean) I also was a complete Tawt (again) and got a curry stain on my front pass seat. I panicked likje fook, but a couple of posts here and over on SRS, and the stain is no more.
honestly, the silver is fine. I looked at the black too- infact when I bought my car- I hated everything about it- except the noise/performance- which I hasten to add, I soon changed !!???!!!
But I found the black was just well, black, dark, made the shed feel very small....
