Creaks and rattles - dealer response
Creaks and rattles - dealer response
Rang manchester audi this morning, due to an increase in the rattles that come from the centre console, in particular the arm rest and where it is attached.
apparently they only allow a couple of months under warranty for things like this to be covered, from registration date
i asked ( sternly) where this was documented and she said it wasnt.
thye are going to have a look this wednsesday...
anyone got any opinions on this before they try and pull my pants down?

RE: Creaks and rattles - dealer response
I've noticed the arm rest is quite rattley. It's a shame really because nothing else seems to (and mine's 3.5 years old now).
JT - I'd be interested in hearing about the outcome of this as I use Manchester Audi also.
Another issue - has anyone had any excessive condensation inside? I know some cars are more prone to this than others (and I've only had mine since the summer so not experienced and hot / cold weather conditions yet), but I wouldn't have expected it from an Audi!

RE: Creaks and rattles - dealer response
i complained about some rattles and squeaks coming from the pillar area and dealer say it's normal on this car with stiff suspension.
when i first bought the RS it was very quiet inside the cabin.. now i hear some squeaks here and there.. it's tolerable but still, on a $70,000 car you shouldn't be hearing rattles and stuff squeaking.
they look for any reason to give an excuse.. i gave up and learned to live with it, but if it bothers you that much perhaps try calling audi headquarters... or you can try fixing some of the squeaks yourself.
i don't let the dealer touch my car anymore.. they are careless and for the most part, idiots when it comes to servicing these cars.

I can remember a while back that owners said they were getting water trapped in their boot lids? Maybe now the weather's changed for the worse and there's been a few downpours this is happening and causing condensation within the car?RS4414. wrote:MMMM...I seem to be getting loads of condensation now also,What could be causing it and any one no a cure?? Just a thought.
I took mine in for a DRC check and some other minor things and at the time asked them to look at a few creaks and groans internally. The main annoying one was the seat belt fastener was rubbing against the leather of thes seat and also a squeak around the rear headrest area. I found when I picked her up that they kindly put some felt in those said areas and cured at least the belt issue. Normally these squeeks are down to loose screws or plastic on plastic etc so with a little sweet talking to your tech they are normally fine to fix it and add some felt washers etc to tighten it all up.
I have been a big critic of Audi's service standards over here in the past so these sort of things tend to soften my attitude towards them slightly
although they had no answer to my squeeking brakes however!! 50% left on the pads and discs in good nick..... driving me nuts... any ideas guys??

yep cheers, had that advice to slam the anchors on hard a couple of times and it does work for a day or two.... then its back.. christ I cant go around breaking everywhere like a blind granny at the ring but I get the idea!! Equally the stealers wanted 150 quid to clean out the calipers and drill holes in the discs!
Even a lazy toe rag like me can bare that to part wit that sort of cash for a cleaning job!! So Im on my knees in the sh*te then at the weekend with a toothbrush and pipecleaner I suppose!!
Theres got to be another way .....

MEV,
don't be too optimisitc about cleaning. After mine were cleaned it was better for a week or two, then came back again just as badly.
I'll be interested to know if your cleaning works - if it does I may do mine again.
I'm a bit concerned as mine's got worse recently. It's also strange that this only started happening after the car was a couple of years old.
Don't know what the answer is really. I wonder whether replacing the pads may do the trick ...
