Throttle Body Alignment

Post by smyffie » Fri Nov 06, 2009 4:09 pm

Hi All

Having been recommended this site a couple of weeks ago, I have recently been trawling through the forums, and on advice given to other users I have splashed out on the full VAG-COM and carried out the throttle body alignment as recommended.

However after having carried this out the settings were as follows

Throttle valve sensor 1 14.5%
Throttle valve sensor 2 85.5%
Throttle Adaption Steps counter 2
Alignment Status ADP O.K.

Are these values as they should be, as I kind of imagined one of them should be nearer 100% (or am I being technically inept again!)

Any input would be greatfully appreciated!

merely a guess but 14.5% + 85.5% = 100%
so when both are fully open so is the throttle

I realised that they added up to 100%, and when looking at the measuring blocks when the throttle pedal is down to the floor, throttle valve sensor 1 now measures 85.5 and valve sonsor 2 goes to 14.5. In fact at every throttle position inbetween thay add up to 100%!! Still not sure of the relevance of each number?!

Hi,

Just for info'. Here's the Vag-com label for channel 60 for the S4 engine:
You can see the "Specification" for each value, so your values are within spec, but I still don't know what they both referer to :( presumably there is an up and a down sensor to be safe if one fails.

060,0,Electronic Throttle (Throttle Body Alignment)
060,1,Throttle Valve,Sensor 1 (G187),Range: 0.0...100.0 %\nSpecification: 3.0...93.0 %
060,2,Throttle Valve,Sensor 2 (G188),Range: 0.0...100.0 %\nSpecification: 97.0...3.0 %
060,3,Throttle Valve,Steps Counter,Range: 0...8\nSpecification: 8
060,4,Throttle Body,Alignment Status,Range: ADP RUN/ADP. O.K./ADP ERROR\nSpecification: ADP. O.K.
