I'll stay out of this as it's my honeymoon so not sure the other half will want it to be a convoy of RS4s!

OK,

I've had some chance to look at a proposed route. caldy's idea of a trip round Ingolstadt is a good idea so how is this for an agenda;

People make their way down to Folkestone (stay night before perhaps) to get on Eurotunnel early start

Day 1
Eurotunnel to Calais, drive to Nurburgring (300 miles), lunch and a lap or two round track. Freshen up, drive down to and stay at Ingolstadt (300 miles)

Day 2
Tour round Ingolstadt, drive down to and stay at Davos (233 miles)

Day 3
Davos via Stelvio Via Bormio, play on Stelvio pass for a while, take in views, pics, drive down to and stay near Lake Garda (203 miles)

Day 4
Lake Garda to Lake Como up to St. Moritz and finish up in Zurich. (203 miles)

Day 5
Zurich back to Calais, duty free shopping, back on Eurotunnel to Blighty (522 miles)

Just an idea at this stage but initial thoughts? Can't get Ring times at present as they are not up on the calendar but it will be eihter late May or early June. Eurotunnel prices at this time would be £45 each way.

He he! Had the same thing, the trade off I have is that Santa has to bring my other half a very expensive piece of jewellery otherwise I couldn't go.

Dear Santa......

Well I have promised her a ring this year !!!! I didnt specify what kind of ring though !!! :D Mainly as she so gallantly dropped off a cracking son for me the other week. I suppose a honeymoon is in order at some point....So shes not to bad and the fact she let me keep my 4 although I have to do the school run in the s max..... in a balaclava of course! ( actually that sounds wrong!! ) I could get away with a long weekend I think if I balance it out carefully! Bloody hell life is full of juggling and indecision!

Sounds like a right good trip though! Keep us informed on progress and costs bud etc Its all about the timing I think.....

only RS 4's ??

I drove to Munich, via Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and back via Luxembourg few weeks ago.

Fantastic....route from Frankfurt down to Munich (goes past Ingolstadt) is amazing. Its like a 200miles runway, no speed limit....I hit 170mph with 4ppl in the car

But I wouldnt under estimate how far 300miles is...what I mean by that is, on that draft itinerary above, theres two sets of 300 miles drives in one day....thats gonna be painful

We may let you in david if you are lucky! I'm not underestimating the size of the journeys, I using the same trip lengths as we covered on the Cannonball 8000 so it is do-able. the two 300 mile trips on day one are mainly motorway / autobahn with derestricted sections so anywhere between 3 and 4.5 hours per 300 mile section.

It's looking more like end of May / beginning of June given the Stelvio Pass opening times.

Day 1, IMO is a lot of mileage and wear and tear on the vehicle, esp if you end up "hammering it on the ring" also driver Fatigue may set in, maybe we should do it the other way round, i.e. so the Ring trip is on the last day, then if we do encounter any vehicle faults, at least that person would have enjoyed the whole of the trip rather than just day one....Just my sensible head on.

But that Itinerary does look good and count me in either way lol

I had thought about that sonny. If we get the early chunnel, say 6.50, then you make it to Calais for 8.30 approx. That gives 4.5 hours to get to the Ring. Have some lunch, a couple of laps, bit of a rest then set off say 4/5pm and get to Ingostadt before 9pm. Plenty of time to relax, sink some beers and get some sleep before the factory tour next morning which in itself will be a rest. If we do have any faults, whet better place to have them checked out than Audi HQ!

Also, if the Ring was done on the last day we would run the same number of miles on the last day as proposed on the first with the bypass through Germany. I thought the last day to take it easy would perhaps be best.
