Brake Judder approx 30mph

Post by Mac-Logotech » Sat Oct 10, 2009 8:46 am

I Had some discs fitted about 2000 miles ago, all spot on until about 2 weeks ago. I have noticed there is a slight judder through the steering and front brakes (well it feels like that) at about 30-35mph. Just mainly when I get to junctions etc.

No judder faster or slower tho, the car is going back into the garage this week and if the discs are warped they said they will replace them, but could it be anything else? Those discs are very thick.

They are going to check my wheels are balanced and I have already had it 4 wheel aligned and that did not change it.

Any other possibilities?

Cheers.

We've got another customer's C5 RS6 Avt in this week for some work: service, cambelt, DRC shot, and - front caliper damaged...

ON his car the front left caliper is visibly damaged / worn where the "bolts" go through it at the top i.e. the hole for the bolt has become enlarged... His was rattling as a result...

Is this similar to yours?

The garage has had the wheels off and checked the calipers etc, they said they have also checked it running with a gauge? Car goes in on Thursday, gonna check balancing and take discs off and give them a proper checkover. I will mention the bolt thing but there is no noise at the moment. Cheers

Well, all off today and the discs are fine. So gonna get the wheels balanced/checked next and see if thats it.
Think I will check the rear discs at the same time just to be safe.

I saw this thread a few weeks ago & it seems the problem is contagious! I have the same problem at exactly the same speed. What was the exact problem with the rear discs & was it pricey?
