Curb Weight etc??

Post by mattler » Wed Oct 07, 2009 8:53 pm

Could someone please tell me what is meant by "curb weight" and how much the RS6 actualy weighs. I always assumed that it was just over 2 ton but reading the specs it would indicate just less than.
Please advise???
Also does anyone know what the button in the door sill that has a pic of a car with inverted brackets coming off it do?? Just found it today.

For the saloon, yes. Although there is some conflicting information as to the way VAG arrive at a kerbweight figure:

I always assume because of the extra cooling it has.

I weighed it the other week and it definitely weighs 1940kg (without me and with roughly quarter tank fuel).

60kg difference between the standard and plus is a hell of a lot for 'just' a cooling system isnt it???

sunroof definitely not standard - unless the one i saw a couple of weeks ago had a "sunroof delete" option..

shouldn't they be lighter due to the drilled discs and shorter suspension springs..??..!!

We really need someone like Grizz or Doug to chime in and confirm just how heavy the 2 additional radiators are. Maybe there are other subtle strengthening mods not listed in the standard specification? But yes, 60kg does seem alot!! I wonder if the coilovers are heavier than the DRC system? Maybe there is stuff in the DRC that wasn't ripped out when the coilovers were fitted? Don't know...

Since I know my car weighs 1940kg, I'd really like to see how much a 'non-plus' Avant weighs, maybe someone could get their Avant weighed.

Si, if you're about, you could weigh your saloon at the same weighbridge I did mine although yours will be especially light at the mo what with it missing various things   (sorry mate, couldn't resist)...

The button is to deactivate the interior monitoring (motion sensors) for if you leave a dog or a child in the car.

they're not under the bonnet - they're behind the intercoolers in front of the wheelarch. i guess there's a good length of hose to get the coolant that far....
