Joshie, Prawn and myself where having a bit of a hi-speed convoy mid-morning which was a laugh... ....

I'm glad that Nige S4 enjoyed his little run round....it wasn't completely down to tyres

and a big thank you to all the RS4 drivers who moved out of the way when being overtaken....

With the expection of yourself and Andy it is actually true to say that no RS4 overtook me all day and when you where behind me I had to lift off and brake down the straight to allow you the time and space to overtake...

Did you really come back into the pits 'cos your bonnet came undone ? that's what it looked like as we went past ?

Andy....

Not all RS4s are as quick as yours or John's so there is possibility that they could be caught and overtaken by a humble S4 ...

If anyone has some footage of me (Noggy Jnr aka S3), is there anychance I can have a copy. I can host some stuff if needed, although I think Phil would like to do it from here.

That wasn't implied Jeff. Oulton is a circuit where the driver is more important than the car to get speed - so yes an S4 can be quicker than an RS4 no problem

As overtaking without consent isn't allowed I dont see your point though..... you were caught and gave consent to overtake but you weren't overtaken all day? Am I pished

I would also like to say a huge thanks to Phil and JR who organised such a terrific day. It was great to meet so many new people.

The track was brilliant. Can't wait for the next event - hopefully early in the New Year????

Simon and Lee, I really enjoyed that ride back home. Hope everyone got back home safely.

Cheers

Well spotted Jeff yes unfortunately my bonnet catch is broken, tried opening all morning, it decided to open just as i started my 1st lap
Scary or what
And i dont doubt that some able bodied S4 drivers can out perform RS4s, its just a bit of fun anyway
and i love it when you bite

sorry for being last(on the post that is)thanks to jr,phil and audi.it was great being able to build up,learn the track and enjoy at your own pace, oppose to being thrown in the deep end with the germans on my first track experience.
ill admit the reds seemed very fast along with that noggy beast and jeff the s4 was fast too especially on the back bends in the wet where you past me(what tyres are you on),but unless your memory is short or you started your cool down lap half way round i seem to remeber you letting me past in the same area by the bridge when it dried out(and its on video) .
anyway thoroughly enjoyed the day and nice to see some faces again including eric who again made a big effort .
what a great track once you have learnt your way around.
would love to go there again, just had to come off after following eric for a couple of laps, getting too excited and knew if i didn't i was going to exert my limits

If people caught me up I allowed them past....I was surprised (in a happy way) when I pulled over to let JR past in the run down to the left hander before Shell that he didn't hammer past and I had to lift and brake to allow him the space to overtake....
And i dont doubt that some able bodied S4 drivers can out perform RS4s, its just a bit of fun anyway
and i love it when you bite

I thought it was you two that had bitten

Who was in the 02 reg Black S3 ???? That was going very quickly and was the other car that caught me up!

The tyres are Michelin Pilot Sports and yes I did/do start winding down for an in well before the end of the lap.

It was a great day and my thanks to JR & PhilT

Apologies for the long post, but lots to say.....
What a great day, been said before, but big thanks to JR, PhilT, Audi and anyone else involved in the arrangements for the day.
Amazingly well organised (as always for RS246 days) awesome track and ideal the way the weather worked out since it gave the chance to experience a wet track in the morning and a dry one towards the end of the afternoon.

Nice also to attend my first northern meet the night before (and fair play to the mixed grill of joy! ) confirmed what I had always thought about northern weather, damn windy and raining!

For those who were unable to attend, a real shame as the track and the weather were just about perfect, and whilst I enjoyed Castle Combe (my last trackday) Oulton park is in another league, a much bigger track and the ups and downs as well as some really interesting corners make it (for me at least) a far more involving drive.

Thanks to Lee (S2 driver) for the off-road action! Really impressed with the AP 6 pots on his car and also the way the Quattro system pulled us out of the deep gravel trap.

To be honest I thought based on the plans of the track that I had seen that it would be a much faster track, but personally I couldn't really get much past 100mph, whereas @ Castle Combe I was hitting 125mph, not that it matters, and I appreciate now that it's not all about top speed, given the choice I'd take Oulton over the (faster) Castle Combe anyday. The up and downy bits really make it interesting to drive.

Really enjoyed the drive home as well, felt very satisfied with the cars performance during the day on the track, and whereas a couple of months ago I was considering changing it, I was strangely smitten with her and can't now see me changing for some time.... even annoying squeaks and rattled seem to have cleared up and I'm sure it seems faster too and sounds better. I guess performance Audis enjoyed a good thrashing from time to time.

Hopefully I get the prize for completing the last lap on the track, I was still out when the sun was setting and had to be flagged in where I was having so much fun!

Oh and thanks to Kim for the spare wheel bolt, wouldn't have felt safe driving around with one short, I'm sure Hopsta knows how that feels....

Anyone planning a visit in the future who wasn't at the breifing, I'd like to echo the marshall's advice for approaching Knickerbrook. "Stick to the right, then point your car at the space between the Y&O in YOKOHAMA and aim for the biggest tree!!!" (classic) ....but it works too.

A truely great day out, still smiling from it, and I didn't even mind being stuck behind a lorry all the way to work this morning.
