New S3 - best Audi yet ?

I know that Autocar will not win any awards for accuracy, but this weeks edition talks about the new S3 - due end 2004. They say it will have a tweaked version of the 3.2 litre engine fitted in the TT and R32. Giving 280bhp.

Now if this baby has a stiffer chassis, better steering and brakes than the old S3 I reckon it could be some of the best fun on 4 wheels for the money. Some know I have an R32 and IMHO prefer it over the current S3. The main reason being the engine. Its not far off the pace of a chipped S3, but is still more fun. I love the engine in the R32. The noise makes the std RS4 sound crap (Bushy's RS4 with Miltek sounded good though) I find it adds real character to the car. It begs to be thrashed and is supberb. BUT it really feels like it needs another 40bhp. IF they give the S3 280bhp and keep the weight down its IMHO going to be superb.

I also notice they will fit the R32 engine into a STD A3 [img]images/graemlins/jump3.gif[/img] AT LAUNCH in June, now thats tempting as well.

Have any of you seen the offical A3 pictures?

It looks pretty ok [img]images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] just imagine how the S/RS3 will look [img]images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
