A bit like "weind" is presumably a mis-spelt word for "wind"!
Saloon V Cabriolet
I had a saloon about 3 months ago in white loved it and regret selling it now i am thinking of buying another one and i am tempted by the cab because it will be different but i just cant make my mind up as to which one to opt for because a lot of people say the cab does not handle as good and is quite noticeably slower.

Exactly the same thoughts as Porky for myself.Porky wrote:I don't find mine wobbly at all, sharp through the corners, no scuttle shake etc. Easily the best cabriolet I've driven and by far the best handling car I've had...davidkoulakis wrote:yeah but isnt the cab wobbly? my S4 was !
Best bet would be to try one on an extended test drive if you can and see why the cab owners praise the cab so much

As a recent purchaser I was very drawn to an open top but most reviews I researched did make reference to the fact that for a convertible the RS4's handling was fine, but not comparable to the saloon.
The convertible also weighs in at nearly another 300Kg over the saloon.
Windows down, Sunroof open is a great 'next best'

As far as I'm concerned, I love to drive hard and I find the handling in the cab way good enough for day to day driving. On public roads, when do you really get to push a car to it's limits anyway?
Drive both and decide what you want, I have no doubts that the avant is 'the' RS4, but I don't need an estate car. I'm young(ish) and want a car for fun, I never take passengers and don't have a dog! I can get my golf clubs in the boot and that's all I need!

I just thought that I'd pop in and see how my old muckers are doing and saw this thread soooo...
As you all know, I loved my Cab but would I have another? Probably not. Not because it might be a bit slower (marginly but not that you would notice on our roads in the UK for general driving). Not because it may have a bit of scuttle shake either compared to the saloon or Avant. Nope.
The main reason - and this goes for most (if not all) Audi soft tops, notice I use the words 'Soft tops' and not cabriolets. Audi for some reason cannot make a fabric roof which doesn't show the creases after just a few uses. My Cab had creases in it even after a few months from being brand new. My previous TT roadster did the same thing and yet my Sister-in-law has a 2005 MX5 with the original fabric roof without a single crease, so it can be done. I used to spend ages making the Cab looking good but no matter what I did, it was always let down by those bl00dy creases!
Would I buy another B7 RS4 if I could afford it though? At the drop of a hat of course.
Mmmm, heaven!

PRO's
Noise, Interior, Open Top Cruising, Very Quick (0.2 seconds slower than a sedan, this would be less than the average driver could reproduce anyway)
CON's
Wobbly (but think it's the DRC), Boot Space (although it's not bad), You wouldn't be able to join the "My RS4 is quicker because it's a sedan" club
At saying that, I'd be very happy with a sedan, and agree with the sedan guys about being a better track car. If I really was going to take my car to the track every month I'd go a sedan 100%, however I never seem to find the time, so I'm glad I've got the Cab.
