The Heart of a Sportec RS460

Post by Reno » Tue Dec 02, 2003 10:19 pm

I went to Essen today, no sign of an RS4 though Image at least not a complete one, since at the sportec stand there was an RS4-engine to ease the pain Image

Image
If that ain't cool???
One problem though, the signs says 'midengine application', we allready had a discussion about, just can't find which that was is... Image

Reno it´s midengine aplication because this engine can fit on the Lotus Elise 03. Can you imagine a 1000Kg with this engine There´s a company on Germany who is making this beast, and probably Sportec is their engine supllier

It's called the Lotus Esthi <2.7, made by Brandes & Dschüdow
here's an article in German.
And these folks have run the 1st page of this article through Altavista's translator.

And here is an english summary from www.elises.co.uk
Brandes & Dschüdow
This upgrade was reviewed in a German Car magazine (Auto Bild Test & Tuning July 2002). Brandes & Dschüdow (a German Lotus dealership has produced a 380bhp Elise S2. Together with Tekno engineering they have put an Audi V6-Biturbo engine (buld at Cosworth) in an Elise chassis extending the top speed to 315 km/h (190+mph) and lowering the 0-62mph to under 4 sec. Going along with this is a modification of the body panels making the car wider and a change of the name to Esthi < 2.7. The car also features an six speed gearbox (Audi A8), ABS, 17" front wheels, 18" rear wheels. Weight is up to 1.000 Kg and the car will be on sale in summer next year for approx. €95,000 (around £#163;65,000 pounds).

Oooh, look here is an english article. (ok, let's say it's english...) and another from www.pistonheads.com

Sweet...

bhp?? naa this can't be right...is it?? must be torque approx 480 ftlbs? I can't make out the engine plaque.

I thought only MTM had achieved 602bhp and 472ftlbs (640Nm)?

I couldn't find an English version of their website. How do Sportec compare to MTM in price for such performance?
