[quote]I think the problem lies in that they sometimes just don't feel quick. They are very refined, but that's the point in the car - it feels safe and comfy but it flies when you need it to.
I agree. This car is damm deceptive. I always compare it to my old tuned 95 aero which would do 50-75 in 3rd in around 3.5s which was quick, but the Plus seams to do it in just over 2.5s and feels no faster, but a whole 1s quicker is a big difference.
The car is a beast.

I think on most drives my RS6 is faster than my 911 Turbo as you feel safer and don't realise how quick you actually are going, especially on corners and sweepers so they are defo deceptive. They don't give you the seat of your pants like the 911 but they cover the ground fast and that is why they are so damn good.

It doesnt make any sense to me. I dont want an e55 i prefer the rs6 im just looking for explanations
I would be happy to bet money that it is not slower.
TBH the mercedes would be absolutely nowhere in the damp, and frankly where I live it rains 4 fifths of the year.
I've been on skiing holidays in my S4 (B5 and B6) when I had them, and although not yet in the RS6 I KNOW it would be spot on in the snow, so I get a performance car I can use for everything on a day off or a work day.
I'm not ready for "beige slacks" and retirement and so I'm not into the Merc's styling either.
I've not come across a car that could beat mine so far, including V10 M5s and even an R8.
All in all it's the RS6 package which wins - the soundtrack, the comfort, and hi-fi, the dog space in the boot, tand it's still *Subtle*, which I feel the BMW in particular is not.

A barge compaired to what?
I hoon mine around the Cornish country lanes all the time (when safe and appropriate to do so) and I reckon for a big car its pretty bloody good. It goes where i put it (including in the hedge
) it copes with the understeer well and honestly it does inspire my confidence.
Ok it aint a fezza or westfield, but it ernt that bad!

He had his 'little' kitcar at Lydden yesterday. Unfortunately I had shorts on so couldn't go out in it, but it was pretty much the quickest thing out on track...Cornishmoocher wrote:Yer, I found that out once.... Jeffw's "hedge"- feck that was rapid.....

I just don't rate its handling. It is too big and too heavy. It could be that I am not the Stig, I dunno.Cornishmoocher wrote:A barge compaired to what?
I had a Focus RS before my RS6 and of course, I have my Westfield now and they shouldn't be compared. The RS6 is a jack of all trades - it is excellent at what it needs to do but it shouldn't be mistaken for a track/rally car.

Plain and simple:
450 - 500bhp in any car is gonna make it quick. Especially when its knocking out 420lbft (standard) to 550lbft (mapped) torque to aid the race toward the horizon.
I wouldnt have any other car at the moment. I'd always liked the M5, but it doesnt look like it lived up to its awesome 'on paper' performance. The 550 and 535d are very similar in looks an almost similar in performance. The RS6 stands out like the poodles noodles in a crowd and in my opinion is more respected than 95% of the exotica that you see on todays roads. AND it looks even better than the C6 RS6.
It may be a big heavy car but in the right hands (stand down Mooch.........lol) it can mix it with the best of them. Just look at the track times in Evo magazine and you will see how the standard car fairs.
Mine was up against a Murcialago 2 weeks ago and the result was enough to guarantee the 2 tonne Audi a place in my garage for life.
