Rear passenger footwell soaked
Rear passenger footwell soaked
Hi people, I am experiencing a soaking wet rear off side passenger footwell. I thought at first one of my kids had left the window open. Dried it out but I noticed that the floor is waterlogged again! it seems to be only this side.
Does the rear wash pipe run this route and I have a leak.
Thanks for reading and any advice/comments.

I'll try and find it, I remember someone else with the same kind of question.

Thanks Dave, the wading possibilty did cross my mind as we have quite a few puddles round here, but I inspected the door seals and there was NO trace of water ingress and strangley, the water when I mop it out is crystal clear. Didn't sniff it to see if it smelt of as my neighbour was watching and would have got worried

I'm sure this is a known problem i've done a trawl through the post's but the only thing i found was this http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=46578
i'm sure some of the RS6 owners will come along and point you in the right direction

I had exactly the same problem. Took car to Listers Coventry where they removed all interior with negative results. They then removed entire engine and box and found small hole allowing water to ingress into the car through the bulkhead to the offside rear footwell. All this done under warranty! Lost car for ten days but Listers provided new A6 for duration.

i had this a year or two ago
the stealers had just serviced the car , and didnt put everything back together properly under the bonnet .
result was water running down the screen and into the chamber where the pollen filter is , and pouring in there , you notice it worst in the back , but will find the front is wet , may also find doors and windows not locking properly as control unit is under passenger front seat and doesnt like water !
there is a drain/bung at the bottom of the 'plenum chamber' where the pollen filter is , that should be taken out as it gets blocked and water fills up , and again goes through the pollen filter housing
good luck , and make sure the carpet is totally dried out

This seems to be an Audi design feature - I've suffered it in the S4 and C5 A6 (could be living in Yorkshire that's the problem - a lot of water round here!).
In both cases it was the plenum chamber itself (where the battery sits) filling up with water, which drained into the ventilation system and then into the rear passenger footwells. Really difficult to find: it gradually drains out so by the time you get round to looking at it (i.e. after it stops raining) all the water has gone! I think the C5 plenum chamber has a small drain hole, but this quickly gets clogged with leaves / gunk etc so it's worth giving it a clean out - shouldn't cause problems if you check annually.
At one point I had two inches of water back there!

i heard , after my problems , that there is a 'grommet ' at the bottom of the chamber that should be gotten rid of to avoid this problem
