Post by rs4_power » Tue Sep 22, 2009 11:10 pm

Hi all i am new to the forum and i am wanting to purchase my first cabriolet rs4 next month. Can any one tell me the specs on both saloon and cabriolets e.g 0-60 time, mpg, weight etc etc
And which one would most of you go for saloon or cabriolet?

Avant = Hearst

Although the owners love to hark back to the fact that the original RS was indeed an Avant, things have moved on since the 90's. If you have a labrador, fine.

;-)

IMHO, Sports cars can never be Cabriolets/Spyders/Convertibles because their dynamics are ultimately compromised by the removal of the roof.

So it has to be a saloon.

Funnily enough, I have one.

What's a hearst anyway?

Another for Avant, saloon drivers hope in vain that because there is less weight on the rear end of their cars it makes them quicker but the differnce in marginal. And Avants are always more stealthy as few sports car owners not in the know expect to be trouble by a perceived 'family' wagon.

If you want weind in your hair get with with a sunroof; in fact there is a mint sprint blue Avant a bit further down the page going for auction with ceramic brakes that if I was in the market for one would have in an instant.

A "hearst" is a mis-spelt word which should have been "hearse"!

;-)

A bit like "weind" is presumably a mis-spelt word for "wind"!

;-)

P_G is, of course, right. the difference between saloon and Avant is marginal. The Cabriolet is somewhat slower with the 0-60 dropping back into the 5's.

You could also consider pippyrips saloon which has been ably worked on by respected Audi tuners, MRC, and delievers a healthy dyno-verified 430+hp. His car has the bloody brilliant solar sunroof option - the one option I was pissed about not getting in my car.

Or you can have my 07 car for £40K....

Cabriolet!

I don't do track days so can't push the car to it's full potential anyway. but love the option to have the roof down and listening to that engine!
