WANTED: RS6 Exhaust

Hi there everybody, I have just brought a 2002 S6 Avant and was wondering if anybody had changed their RS6 exhaust for something like a Miltech system and was selling their old exhaust on? If not does anybody know where I might be able to find one of these for sale?

I will happily unclutter somebody's garage of an exhaust if the price is right

Tim, expect to pay anywhere between 80 and 150 for fitment of your new exhaust. The joints have to be fabricated as you will struggle to find a sleeve that matches the 2 different diameters. On mine, the pipe from the cat was 50mm and the RS6 exhaust is 65mm - so a big jump. Also, a wee bit of flexing of your rear bumper as the new ovals will 'slightly' interfere with the cut-outs. Ref the exhaust, I paid £63 for mine (ebay) and my friend paid £100 for his. You should not be paying any more than £150.

I went the extra hog and purchased an RS6 rear bumper too - from Grizz.

That was the reason for changing it, not that there is anything wrong with the old one just that reading through the posts on here makes it sound like a sensible upgrade.

I didn't expect it to be a straight swap of the exhausts so thanks for the info on the different bore sizes of the two exhausts. I have always said (and this is from my own personal experience) that the worst two jobs on any vehicle are exhausts and brakes!

Where did you end up getting your flanges made up to complete the swap? My brother is quite good in the welding department so is it something that could be made at home or do I need to go to a custom exhaust fitters?

By the way, how's your MPG now that your foot is probably always on the LOUD pedal? Either way I'm sure the grin factor has gone up

Got the exhaust fitted at a little back-street garage, that my friend used for his exhaust change. Rang a few performance exhaust specialists first and had some pretty pricey quotes for the making of the sleeves.

I have also added a high flow air filter on a friend's recommendation.

I do feel I have altered the fuel consumption a tad, but, love the noise and the look! Yes - the grin factor has increased too!

Latest update, I have an RS6 exhaust fitted to my S6 now and I love it. I brought one from golfather (thanks mate) and fitted it myself. I wouldn't say it was an easy job, but I am a bit handy on the tools and the fact that I work on aircraft all day for a living probably helped. The main problem was getting the adaptor sleeves the correct size, I ended up getting them made at a custom exhaust place near me Powerflow St Albans.

The bloke that was making them for me was having a complete nightmare with the stainless tubing he was using as I wanted to sleeve outside to outside, but in the end I had to have the sleeve made to fit inside the RS6 exhaust and on the outside of my original downpipes all clamped together with the usual clamps you get from any exhaust place.

It wasn't spot on first time as I had a problem with the join blowing, but that was mainly down to the fact that the stainless tube is very strong and the clamps are as usual made out of old kit-kat wrappers. With a bit of adjustment here and there I managed to get it to seal up nicely.

The exhaust cost me £110, sleeves and clamps £25 and a few hours to fit.

Quite a cheap mod and it makes all the difference, the exhaust is not too loud on long journeys, infact you can hardly hear it at 70 mph but if you want to make it a bit more audible you can by hitting the loud pedal. I thought my S6 was a bit quiet when I brought it but now it has a lovely grumbly V8 sound to it now.

The grin factor has gone up loads and I would like to say thanks to all that helped me out with reply's to my original post

My garage has just taken a look about fitting my newly acquired rs6 exhaust and has found the tips will not fit the space in the rear valance where the s6 ones live. How did you overcome this?

Does look that way but I am in agreement with my garage in that it would look a bit, how shall we put it 'rubbish' Ideally it would be nice to cut out the grey plastic and replace with the mesh type as per the RS6 however on the RS6 this is still 1 moulded piece
