RS4 has arrived....slight issue...
RS4 has arrived....slight issue...
Hi,
Collected Sprint Avant on Thursday and am finding any excuse to go out for a drive.
Not as noisy as I thought it would be (just out of a '58 R32 which was noisier).
Found an annoying issue....when I nail it from a standstill the gear change from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd causes the car to hesitate for a second. It's intermittent which makes it more annoying. Maybe I am getting used to the clutch but I have done over 300 miles in it. It feels like traction control but the light does not come on and roads are dry.
Any ideas....got 3 months of proper warranty left so want to make sure the car is perfect before the extended warranty kicks in.
Cheers
Mark

Its the electronic safety gizzmos being over sensitive - a short press of the ESP button on the dash will cure it.
As above, it's likely to be your driving style so as you get used to the car it should vanish.
High power & manual gearboxes are not always the best of friends. You'll see many very high powered equiv cars having DCT, SMG of some other variant of smei-auto or semi manual gearbox.
Needs a brave & strong clutch to dump 420 ponies on the tarmac through a 4wd, so the on board computer will sometimes say NO & <beep> the car marginally.
As said, you don't need to hammer the box to get a rapid start. Even now after 2+yrs of RS4 ownership, i get a start wrong & suffer the same fate.

Seems an extreme approach to get rid of a flashing lightsilverRS4 wrote:Its the ESP. If I have any gripes about the car, its having to turn ESP completely off (hold button 3-4 seconds with car not in gear) every time I drive the car. I suppose you could just disable traction control with a simple press as Pippy suggested, but I do not like the ESP light blinking.
