Hi

A few of us have agreed to meet up and 'shoot the breeze', and also 'shoot the carz' !

Somewhere in Kent. So far coming along for this jolly jaunt we have:

Ramone
Raceman
Sonny
Mattykerby01
Nillsj
Pete2144
And me!


So first of all we need to agree on a weekend. So to start things off how about a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, maybe Sunday 20th or either Sat/Sun the following week (26/27th ?).

Next where do we meet? I live in Whitstable, but like all of the above am happy to drive pretty much anywhere in Kent to meet up, so suggestions are welcome. Somewhere, maybe a pub, for a bite for lunch, whilst we catch up and talk crap no doubt! Then possibly off somewhere to photograph the cars. Needs to have a good sized car park. Ideas on where to meet somewhere central I'd suggest, maybe Maidstone, Ashford, Tonbridge?

Where do you think? I've just thought - Nr Ashford (between Ashford and Faversham on the A251), is a place called Boughton Aluph. There's a nice village green there with a pub and a cricket pitch on the green. We may be able to park the cars on the green (but off the pitch) to photograph, as well as have a drink and a lunch. There's also Eastwell Manor there too...?

I'm off today so will have a little pootle about (any excuse! ) to check it out.

Sonny can't make it as he's overseas at the moment.

Just been for a (long) drive - any excuse!!
Not had a great deal of luck apart from a large open car park which was deserted... Near Chilham Castle.

BA wasn't ideal as you almost needed a Defender to get onto the area I was thinking about.

However I've just had a VERY interesting conversation with someone, which might be too attractive to turn down... Just checking something out and will be back in a while...

Ok - I think I've just pulled off the biggest coup - EVER !

So as I mentioned in some PM's I've sent, I mentioned a certain Lydden Race Circuit, which is just off the A2 south of Canterbury.
I've just spoken with them, and they're having the following Jap Car BHP Event on Saturday 19th September

Ok so not for everyone I know, but...
I mentioned that myself and a few guys who were into Audi RS's were looking for somewhere to do a photoshoot, and I was wondering whether we could pop down to Lydden?

She said "What racing round the circuit?"

"No... well...could we?! It's really for somewhere we can just photo our cars...! We have 3 RS6's and 3 RS4's, but there might be a few others."

"I tell you what, we're having a Jap car BHP day on 19th September, if you and your chums wanna pop down for the day and pay the £12 entrance fee per car, we'll let you take your cars onto the circuit during the lunchtime shutdown, so you can photograph them going round the circuit. There'd be a speed restriction though as that's when the marshall's have their break, so 30-40mph tops, but will be fine for your photos."

"Eh?! We can have uninterupted access to the circuit itself for 30minutes at lunchtime for just us? Just the 6-7 of us?"

"Yep. But only on the condition you don't start advertising this everywhere, as we'll be getting every Club coming down wanting the same priveliges. Plus as we're doing track sessions during the day as well, if you want more track time it'll be just £15 for 15minutes, for the public sessions. "

" Right then... I'll be in touch..."

" Ok, just call me tomorrow or early next week to confirm you're coming and I'll keep it reserved for you. "

So guys. Fancy it? Having just checked their website they're doing a track day later in the month and that's £150 for the day!

I've just checked my diary and Sat 19th is my sister-in-law's wedding, so I don't think I can feckin' go!!

But, as I'm such a nice chap, if you still want to do this, then I'll organise it for you. You just tell me afterwards how good it was... sob sob...

They do sessions of 24 on the circuit at any one time apparently, so this could accomodate a few others if they want to join in the fun?

Circuit is 1mile long and a little like a mirrored version of Brands Hatch's Indy Circuit.

As the circuit seem quite accomodating I might also enquire about a larger RS246 only day...? Depending on interest and costs...

Wish I could fella - I've already been thinking about what excuses I could make, but seeing as I'm chaufeurring the brides maids to and from the wedding in the RS4, will be a tad difficult!

Will give 'em a thrill though pretending I'm on track !! Getting there quicker means they'll have a bit of time to sort their hair out again...!

If people want to do the Lydden thing that's fine by me, just let me know who def wants to go...

Popped in to Lydden Circuit today. It looks great for photos.

They dais we're welcome pretty much anytime. They do have a car track day on Sat 26th Sept which might be a good time as we can have access to the track for free lunchtime subject to the speed restriction, as well as have Taster Sessions during the day if we want.

The site is very sloped down to the circuit so should be good for photos, and lots of space too.

I also broached the subject of a RS246 Day, which they'd be up for but I doubt we could get enough interest to make it worthwhile. They also said they'd be organising a VAG Day next year too, so something for the diaries.

Will keep in touch with him, as quite handy knowing someone who runs a race circuit!!

So, who's interested in Sept 26th? I have a run booked at a Rolling Road 1st thing in Essex, so I wouldn't be able to get there till lunchtime - like most guys probably? Let me know and I'll get it organised.
