What options to fit multimedia hard drive to RNSD

Post by kwack » Tue Aug 18, 2009 11:17 am

Recently purchased a RS6 which has a RNS-D. Now I am quite happy with the sound etc etc so dotn want to upgrade to RNS-E or other double din player.

What I am after is having some form of hard drive type storage that can hold MP3, dvd films etc that will play through the existing head unit

Any ideas

Thanks for the reply. I took a look at these and they seem to be more Ipod specific. I am after a device that will allow a multimedia player such as those that you plug into TV etc that can be hooked up and played through the RNS-D

I have seen these on various pictures and it seems like a great idea - 500gb worth of movies and MP3 played through the car

If you have the TV function, there are phono inputs on the back of the module in the boot that you can plug devices into and that will allow you to watch movies and listen to music from whatever source is plugged in. The only problem is you can't control it from the head unit so its not an ideal solution. I used to have a DVD player plugged into mine and occasionally my Nokia N95 which I could use as a music player.

I do have the TV function but would want to be able to control the player via the existing headunit without reaching round into the boot and using the remote

Take a look at Kufatec (www.kufatec.de) who do a load of options for adding head unit controlled devices, including a multimedia HDD called a Rapsody. Someone installed it with the upgraded RNS-E but the Kufatec adapter works with RNS-D too..
