Warranty (again)

Post by hkfooey » Tue Aug 11, 2009 11:48 am

OK, guys

I think I am going to plump for the Inchcape Warranty that everyone is on about. I have 2 years warranty for the DRC :) but for peace of mind for 3 years for £1k, I am just going to do it. Shocker is that the multi point warranty check costs £264   !! anyway, guess over 3 yrs it's worth it.

Any words of advice before I commit?

3 years for a grand? Deal of the century. Do it. You couldnt' warranty a nissan primera for that.

Or did you mean a grand for an extra year of just DRC cover? In which case I suspect it's money down the drain.

I thought we'd been through the Inchcape warranty issue - i.e. it wasn't possbile to get that without buying it from Audi at the time the car is bought from a dealer?

We have although you can buy it without having it serviced via the dealer supplying the warranty; I asked.

BUT, before I get shot down  I am taking it there on Tues and will ask again before they even do the works as otherwise it will DEFINITELY be money down the drain.

Wish me luck. If it works, then I guess it'll be good for everyone looking for a warranty package.

FYI, this is in addition to the 2 year DRC warranty for the replacement work done. Just want to be sure everything else is covered off.

I'm confused. Is this a full warranty? Or just for the DRC?

Full warranty. My point is that I don't care about whether it covers the DRC or not (I am pretty sure it does as the policy talks to suspension and does not exclude the DRC) as I have Audi warranty for this for 2 years.

COol. Then good luck getting it. Sounds a bargain to me. You can spend more than that on CV boots in 3 years!

Hope you are able to get the warranty because i could'nt because it had to be supplied at point of sale, so good luck if you can get it, i was told by Inchcape that the DRC will not be covered due to large previous claims.

I'm with Rob - I thought the warranty had to be bought/supplied at Point of Sale. Is this not the case?

It really doesnt, but I guess its largely dependent on what sort of character you end up with on the phone. Matt at East Kent was very helpful, and as explained in the 'definitive Inchcape' thread, they are happy to offer it to me purely on the basis that they have performed a lot of my 6's services, and they feel confident enough that they know the car. Basically, the dealership you request it from needs to have had at least a little exposure to the car in the past. They should be able to get through the red tape with Inchcape if they want to look after the car.
