I'm Rod and I have always admired the RS2 and have now decided to possibly take the plunge and get one, I have had company cars for the last 10 years and have now gone self-employed, so I can choose to have something fun, rather than a tax dodging oil burner.
The RS2 has always had a place in my heart, I remember being sat in a ferry queue going over to Jersey in around 1995 being about 5 cars back from a blue RS2 and as a younger man I just thought it was the best looking estate I had seen, the menacing red of the calipers through what are imo the best looking wheels on the planet

I'm into classics already, I have a 1973 Porsche 914 in perfect condition which I have spend time getting back to it's former glory, although it's a bit of a fair weather toy, only coming out in the sunshine - Which is where this summer??!!
Before I jump straight in and buy a dog I have a couple of questions..
The 914 is kept in the garage, so the RS would be outside.... Would this be frowned upon? I read they are fully galvanised, but I don't want it to fall prey to our awful climate whilst in my possession

Also how would it like to have only a short journey under it's belt in the mornings - I only have a 2.2 mile commute each day and I'm really concerned that this short journey will not do the engine any favours.
I'm in Farnham, Surrey and was wondering who would be the best local'ish specialist to fettle the car when it arrives and maybe help me with a pre purchase inspection?
There appear to be a couple of cars for sale here atm which look like well sorted examples, I don't want to jump in until the end of this month so If I miss those hopefully another one will come along - these cars seem on the whole to be run by enthusiasts, much like the Porsche I run, so are usually (hopefully!) very well looked after.
Cheers all, looking forward to my stay
