Custom Down Pipes/exhaust
Its £780 plus vat but that is fully fitted. Its also got 2 x 100 cell cats. So its quite a lot cheaper then the Miltek. I was told the quality will be better then miltek due to be hand made also I think its a wider diameter then the miltek but not sure about that.
Not heard or driven it yet, but will do tonight. I am expecting a big difference after the cusom remap which is next on the shopping list!

B5 RS4 in Avus, Custom 3" down pipes 100 cell cats, MRC custom map, ITG filter, HR antiroll bars, Poly bushes, B7 calipers and discs, ESP DTS, TV, Sat Nav and sun roof.
£780 plus vat is the fully fitted price for two down pipes with 100 cell cats and centre section but keeping stock back box for now to keep the OEM look!stumpy67 wrote:Any plans for a RR trip to see what improvements it's actually made, or you not particularly bothered?
That £780+VAT is that for a full system? That's very good...
I might take her on a rolling road, but I did not do one before so not really going to give a scientific answer as to how much better it is.
But I have got rid of the pre cats and the main cats are now metal race cats so hoping for a decent improvement once its remapped. I am picking it up tonight and will let you know if i can feel much difference without the remap! And also cant wait to hear what it sounds like!
Thats a seriously good price, who are these people? I'd be willing to travel a bit for a price like that and judging by the pics it looks good quality to boot.gareth215 wrote: £780 plus vat is the fully fitted price for two down pipes with 100 cell cats and centre section but keeping stock back box for now to keep the OEM look!
I have driven it and even without the remap it feels quite a lot better to me. Its more free revving and got a decent bit of mid range improvement too!roi354 wrote:Thats a seriously good price, who are these people? Overall I am very impressed. It was done by quatronics near Lincoln. They are very enthusiastic and the work seems to be of a very good quality. It even sounds nicer even with the stock back box.
Its was just about the same price for me to get this custom built 3 " down pipes with 100 cell cats as it would have been to just gut the pre cats. And obviously you get some extra performance over and above just gutting the pre cats.stumpy67 wrote:Need to find out about gutting the cats?? Improvements/costs/where can I get it done, etc etc
I may not go down the big power route but If I do I think these downpipes will take what I throw at them where at some point standard down pipes which have been gutted will be limiting.

Cheers
From I've read or been told, gutting the pre-cats on it's own doesn't give any performance improvements. You need to also include a cat-back system to realise the better breathing. Having the cats removed increases gains of the cat back system by a further 10bhp approx - or so I've seem to recall from an old thread - am probably going to be corrected shortly !
I've also read that gutting the cats costs c£200 alone...??
Thanks though and glad to hear you're enjoying it!
B5 S4 Saloon Widebody Track Car.
B5 RS4 - now sold.

Sorry I meant it was the same sort of price to have my standard down pipes with the pre cats gutted but also sports cat welding in place of the standard ones, so to have the custom three inch system in stainless was a no brainer for me.
So obviuously just having the re cats gutted would be cheaper, but I still think most specialists would charge about £400 to £450 inc vat as its a 6 to 7 hour job as I understand it, but if you can get it done for £200 thats sounds like a good mod for the money.
Give qauttronics a call if you like the look of mine I am happy that it is good value and seems to deliver a performance improvement too but will really know more after the remap!

Don't suppose they made jigs or kept any templates? I'd be very interested in buying the exact same setup and would be nice to not have to go all that way and stay over night just for the privilege!
I am not sure if they made a jig, I can ask for you!roi354 wrote:Thanks.gareth215 wrote:
