Effectively nothing but the fees, I will be shipping a 40ft container so it will be transported with all my other worldly possessions.

I am an HR manager for an Engineering and management consultancy firm. Difficult market at the moment but no worse than anywhere else in the world. At least the government doesn't take a third of everything I earn!

Was due to move out to DBX end of last year with a PM/QS Consultancy but it fell through. Am actually looking into a move to AD as we have an office there as well, later this year if I can. Can't ignore the tax benefits!!

the move to AD is tempting but my GF would out of work and not happy - the money looks great though, but living costs eat a fair bit i am told

AD is not every ones cup of tea but there are a lot of misconceptions about life here. For example my wife gave up her job in the UK and now would probably have to be surgically removed from AD and her busy lifestle of coffee and lunch and shopping and coffee and more shopping and.....

You can live reasonably or you can spend a ridiculous amount (especially if you buy an RS4!). It depends on what you want out of the experience.

Anyone wanted some advice then feel free to pm me - as an HR manager I have a window into more peoples lives than most here.

Same for us in DBX. The wife was to become a 'lady that lunches' - spending time at the Beach Club etc etc while I sweat my c0ck off on site...

Will do - apologies for diverting the thread by the way !

Just got back from DXB and after now visited about ten times in the last 9 years I can say it's not for me at all. It's too darn busy on Sheik Zayed road, there's nothing to do except get hammered at a hotel bar and try to keep out of the sun all the time flitting from unbelievable heat to an overchilled building.

Abu Dhabi is actually a much more manageable size and has quite a nice feel to it in comparison. The Cornich is a nice area to just chill out and wander about.

See loads of RS4's and R8's out there too.

It's likely to be an option for me again end of the year/early next. We have a number of large project winds recently that will need staffing. AD and Bahrain, and also Qatar...

Don't mind any to be honest, just SHOW ME THE MONEY ! Anything to help try and pay off the mortgage!!

Doha is quite a nice up and coming place but it's no where near the kudos of AD or Dubai. Maybe in ten years it will have something similar.

I could get a job out there tomorrow as we have lots of clients on Dubai Media City but as I said, there's more to life than tax free earnings.

I'm in Dubai (but work in Abu Dhabi) and drive a B7 RS4. I had issues with the quality of customer service when I bought the car from Ali & Sons, and since then, i have had a very considerate ear of Audi ME's M.D. (read: had the 2 week loan of a fully loaded S8 and soon to be loan of a C6 RS6).

If you have any car troubles/service worries please PM me. I also suggest you make the trip to Al Nabooda on SZR in Dubai. I can direct you to the right service agent and right Master Tech. to get things sorted. (I have just had a new engine fitted in my B7 RS4 on warranty).

Matt, pretty sure it was you whom I saw the other month up near Arabian ranches, do you have the Sprint blue? Well done on the new Engine! What was up with it?

Well.... I was booked in at a local tuning shop (the place looks like an operating theatre, its brilliant and soooo un-like anyewhere else in the M.E.) to have the car decatted, Revo Stage 2 tune, and panel filter fitted.

As a precaution I wanted a health check. I went to the Audi dealer and complained of early morning hesitancy and a like for consuming oil, neither which were too bad but did exist (these are both traits of the B7).

I made quite a deal about it though and they undertook thorough investigations. It did transpire that one cyinder was down on compression, and combining that with the oil consumption they thought a new engine was due. No obvious signs of problems when endoscoped.

I'm at the dealers tomorrow for a quick check that its all a-ok and Monday next week brings the remap, decats and filter.

Nice, yes when I had my B7 back in 06 I remember it really didn't like the mornings. Ran like a dog in the winter and it just felt wrong until it had warmed up and the rev limiter had come off. Also oil consumption on mine wasn't too bad, nowhere near as bad as the Mazda RX-8!!!

Nice, the remap and decat transforms the car again and it's what it should have been like from the factory imo.

Matt, where were you going to get the after market tuning done? If I need a lot of work done on the car I would prefer to take it to an indie rather than pay Audi, even if the guys in Dubai are a little more clued up. Trouble is that many of then have never seen a B5 and seem not to really understand its subtleties.
