ESP Testing / Check

Post by Riz_RS4 » Sat Nov 22, 2003 8:59 pm

What is the best way to see if my ESP is working correctly.

I do get the ESP light flash when going over very bad bumps in roads when wet etc.

Yes it does work then but i think that when the wheels loose traction, all 4 wheels if powersliding then the ESP might not kick in.... just trying to find out a sure way of knowing before reporting it to the dealers.

well, i can get my ESP to kick in quite easily - just applying enough power into a tight corner or roundabout sees to that.. - especially in the wet.

can't say i've noticed it coming on over the bumps though - maybe you've a twitchy sensor somewhere.

Rizzer,

You will know if it's working after the day at Oulton Park.

All you need to do is push your car too hard into a corner and you will feel the ESP correcting any understeer / oversteer whilst reducing the power at the same time.

I guarantee you will know what ESP does (and how) AND have a smile on your face.

I've often wondered whether this does really work atimes, as since I've had my car, I can say I've had ESP cut in only a handful of times, (maybe five or six times in eighteen months..and quite a lot during that snowy period which is understandable) never in tight corners or roundabouts that everyone seems to get but mostly when flooring it from the lights in the wet, it does that Kangaroo Limpy thingy...
Or is it just because I drive like a pussy cat at these places?!?
