Chatter...

Post by PcPiers » Wed Jul 15, 2009 4:33 pm

Having read this forum for a while now i know how much the typical whoosh of a dump valve is not appreciated and tacky, had one on a previous car and it did my head in!
I want to get the chatter as opposed to the whoosh and am not sure how to achieve this? I've heard that you get it from either a wastegate or an open ended induction kit??
Anyone on here know exactly how to do it?
I drive a 2000 with remap, 320hp. Will doing anything else affect the performance, i.e slow it down? I'm not an expert!
Thanks for replies...

If you want chatter, then sell the car and buy a car that will vent to atmosphere with a dump valve.

The S4 uses a recirculating system that delivers dumped boost back into the intake. Dumping the boost to atmosphere will confuse the ECU as it thinks the air is being recirculated back into the syatem and not being vented to fresh air.

Go and buy a rice racer if you want a dump valve...

Easy remove airbox and bung up the holes where the dvs go . take it for a hard run and listen to the turbos chatter a few times then go buy new turbos to replace the ones that have broken . Re-fit n710 original dvs and refit the airbox .
