What happens when heatsoaked?

Post by DutchRS4 » Sat Jul 04, 2009 1:29 pm

Hi,

I was wondering what happens technically if a RS4 gets heatsoaked (chipped car).
It's hot, you're standing still for a while and the intake temp gets higher.
My mapping is asking for 20-21 psi, but in this case I see 24-25 psi (no peak, but holding). This is what I noticed when running hot. Accelleration seems to be fine though, no holding back, but it bothers me because with so much boost the ecu would need to <beep> timing a lot!

On launch: Will only the ignition timing <beep> and/or will the ECU try to compensate by giving more boost in order trying to deliver the requested load?

I'm trying to find answers here..

p.s. Did a leak test yesterday, and found no boost leaks.

id say it was down to the n75 valve, try changing it and see what happens.

I replaced the N75 the same day, then went driving. First few km's the problem persisted, but I know the ECU needs to adapt to any hardware changes, so I didn't panic yet 8) .

After a few WOT everything was back to normal. Went driving again yesterday and today, and 20-21 psi it is! You can hear by the sound of the exhaust that it likes it much better!

Thanks Jimbo!! :!:
