Not a happy bunny

Post by B17NME » Fri Jul 03, 2009 8:45 am

Had a traffic light rally with a 57 plate S3 last night and i just about kept up with him off the lights. Then he started pulling away slightly. My car is a 52 plate avante with 96k and FASH.The question is, Is there something wrong with my car or its not as quick as i thought?!!
Was enjoying it for the last month that iv had it but know feel like selling it asap and go back to the AMG badge.

1 : you dont know what he has had done to his car , and there is a power to weight issue to consider
2 :that said , I would also be gutted , and would suggest you get yours vagged , or rolling roaded to put your mind at rest , or at least know if you have a problem
good luck

I recon the S3 is prob mapped to 300bhp (270stock?) and he's got a massive weight advantage so I dont think you would have mullered him in normal conditions. . .

Where are you based ? Take it to MRC and get a health check circa £50. . . .and get a remap while your there and the S3 will be a speck in the distance

RS6's are not as quick as people think !
Firstly its that quattro thing that saps nearly 100bhp.
Then theres the small issue of WEIGHT !
And then even the smallest of issues such as dodgy MAF, leaking intercooler, heatsoak, all may mean you are losing power and need to get it checked out.

I had a go with a MRC'd and Milltek'd RS6 recently in my humble R32 Golf and it certainly raised a few eyebrows ;)

All to do with power to weight.

I understand the power to weight issue but having just come out of an E55 amg which aint the lightest of motors but that would have blown the doors off of that little Audi and thats whats hurting more

my TTQS was mapped to 265bhp and as it was the stripped down version (no rear seats, pole positions up front etc) it was super light and was stupidly quick.

Thing with your car being 52 plate and 90k+ on it - you should really get it to a specialist to check over it. Audi dont really have a clue in my opinion and experience and so while FASH will keep it in general good shape, it wont ensure its running at optimum performance, that where someone like MRC can help

I know what you mean! I came from a 2004 E55 AMG to the Audi, and the Audi is nowhere near as quick. The E55 in a straight line was awesome...............but when you got to a bend that was a different story! And the steering was so vague!

This all makes me sad ! because since i bought my Plus a month ago I have been thinking it isnt as fast as I was expecting. Coming from a saab 95 aero tuned to okay only 285bhp, she was a fast car (not stupidly) but I think with the loud exhaust, manual box and the fact you could really feel the turbo's kick in, for some reason the saab just felt faster than the plus , however, CLEARLT it ISNT

the plus just seams to deliver the power so smoothly you just dont realise how fast you are going. I need a Miltek and ordinarlily I would head straight to the tune shop but i want to keep this car standard albeit a few small add ons !

I dont quite understand the bit about losing 100bhp because of the quattro?

cheers

The RS6 is a fast car. It just doesn't feel fast, but that's because it's a luxury Audi.

It feels quick(ish), but when you drive a tuned vehicle (came from a modified Focus RS) you get the noise and it feels light, flimsy and basically a little bit "naughty" when giving it beans.

The Audi is one of the fastest cars I've driven too, but slower cars can feel faster. That's why I bought my Westfield.

I feel mch better, sometimes a bit of re-assurance from guys that have been driving these cars for a while is what you need. I need to go and have a razz about !

the AMG mercs in a straight line are something else however, it all starts to go a bit wrong when you factor in some twisties coupled with a wet surface.....

defo get a health check done. i VAGCOM'd my car a few days back and it appears from some readings that i've got a massive boost leak however, car seems ok to me! sometimes things might not be working right but we think everything is ok!

and if your still not happy come and find some B5 love!!!! :D ok i'll get my coat now........

Had a bit of a dice with a guy in an Astra VXR last night and I think I've now come to the conclusion that the RS6 is a fast car on motorways !
