Sat Nav question
Sat Nav question
I'm being a bit lazy here as I could look through the huge manual that comes with the Sat Nav.
Is there an option to allow full postcodes to be entered? I have been caught out a few times over the last week where I have only been allowed to enter the first 4 characters. I was stuck the other day because all I had was the postcode, no street name etc.
Cheers
Dan

Nope, none of the OE Audi sat navs allow full postcode entry.djt wrote:Is there an option to allow full postcodes to be entered?

Makes you wonder how they can charge so much for an inferior system and yet a small portable tom tom one for £150 is better.

When I asked about this the answer from Audi marketing HQ was that it's because the system in the B7 is actually pretty ancient and the software has not been updated. Sort of makes sense as TomTom and the likes have only around an 18month lifecycle whereas with development time the B7 is probably 5 years or more? The same satnav system in my previous S4 didn't even have TMC (Trafic info boradcasts) so I was preety amazed that Audi had managed to squeeze that into the B7 RS4...not sure whether it's in all models or just the later ones? - anyone know????
Thought for the moment...
...if some mindless ASBO keys your car as happened to my previous S4 then stay positive...they may have had a moments glory in front of their mates but they only did it because they're jealous of you being able to drive it every day! Who drives wins!

What Audi didn't tell you is that the MMI system in the A6 and A8 still only have partial postcode entry too! So their reply isn't totally honest...weblissimo wrote:When I asked about this the answer from Audi marketing HQ was that it's because the system in the B7 is actually pretty ancient and the software has not been updated.
UK TMC was added to the RNS-E by a software only upgrade in 2007 - and can be applied to ALL RNS-E's no matter how old. Software 0550 or later have UK TMC.weblissimo wrote:The same satnav system in my previous S4 didn't even have TMC (Trafic info boradcasts) so I was preety amazed that Audi had managed to squeeze that into the B7 RS4...not sure whether it's in all models or just the later ones? - anyone know????
UK TMC was available on the older CD based RNS-D from 2003 by buying a map CD from TeleAtlas instead of Audi!
