Tyre advice please

Hello,

I'm still trying to sort my tyre troubles, I’m going for 19 x 8.5s on the front and 19 x 9.5s on the rear, yum yum.

But I need some advice please, the package that has been recommended by the retailer comes with tyres 225/35R19 - front and 235/35R19- rear, but something doesn’t feel right, sure someone else said they had 275/30 on their 19 x 9.5s?

Can anyone give some advice as to whether they think these tyres are ok to go on the new alloys or will they be too small? Any other tyre options or tips would be gratefully received.

Standard OEM tyre width is 255 F + R. Why go narrower ?

I'm running 265/30/19 fit is superb, agree wouldn't drop below 255 OEM width.

don't mix tyre widths front and rear unless you can get exact rolling diameters. the Torsen diff doesn't like it!

Thanks for the posts, just what i thought! Dont know why their suggesting anything lower than 255/30?! Always trust ur gut feeling.

Yeah the tyre rolling diameter was giving me some concerns, there's a calculator on-line somewhere, which im going to try and figure out how to use, or.....

Anyone know if you can run 9.5s on the front (as well as rear), probably with 255/30?

How can u tell when the diff is on its way out?

This is an interesting point how does that work? What would happen if you put on a spare that was slightly smaller in circumferance?

I think a spare will be fine as it only used for a short period, but if you always used front and rear tyres with a different rolling radius I can see how that would cause the centre diff to wear.

Definate no no to running different wheel widths if you can't get the rolling radius right, I had this problem when I was looking at my first set of wheels!

9.5s will fit the fronts depending on the offset of the wheel, loads of people on here have 9.5J wheels allround without any issues, most wearing 265/30 tyres

I am running 9.5" with 275/30/19's. No problems including track days. HTH

Excellent! Looks like its going to be 19 x 9.5s all round with 265/30s!

Been running on the spare for about a month, minimal driving, not on motorways and not above 50! It's a proper 18" Audi but the 5 spoke kind & did have a slightly different sized tyre on there, not by much tho and thankfully doesn't look like its effected it at all, even the tracking etc was good, got matching one on there now tho because didn't want to risk for much longer.

Thanks for all the advice, can't wait to go 60 (and maybe 70 on the motorway) again!!
