Stories

Post by DickyC » Mon Jun 15, 2009 8:56 pm

A story about The Undertaker Car I forgot to tell trevithick.

The owner before me related the, "It's never had a ding bad enough to split the paint" legend and how it came about. Apparently, it had never had a ding at all until, and I quote, "I was visiting Jody Scheckter's farm and one of his lads backed a tractor into it."

Now that's a car story with almost everything: an RS2, a Formula 1 legend, a farm, an eejit on a tractor and a happy ending. The bodyshop pushed the dent out, job done and almost perfect.

Marvellous.

Anyone else with a tale to tell?

[After spending hours eyeballing it, trevithick will now come back and tell us which wing it was...]

After no sleep ad a whole day of lost production I've come to the conclusion that it was the drivers side front?
(A very slight missalignment with the bonnet).
Worth it just to add to the legend.

Drat. It was a stupid game anyway. What are you, a forensic scientist?

And the outpourings of RS2 stories to rival The Yellow Rolls Royce hasn't happened either :(

Still, mustn't grumble :)

We took a Morris Marina van 120 feet underground once at Hayes wood mine at Limply stoke, near Bath (whilst the mine was shut).
Is that any good, neadless to say the van lasted about another 3 months and died.
I must get a photo of the 2 with the Devil, now thats an odd combination, oi tell 'e!
Cheers

Is it the Puffing Devil, or is it a full size replica?

All but three of the fish made it to their new home in Wales, thanks Al. So, twenty nine assorted Newbury fish enjoying a change of scene with a bloke with a new pond in Cardiff.

The deal, such as it was with no money changing hands just the knowledge that the fish were going to be okay, was brokered by the bloke's right hand man who turns out to be a bit of car nut. Vehicle nut to be more accurate: Porsche 912, flat-floor E-type, Dodge wrecker (every home should have one), 1942 Army Morris commercial, F350 truck ex USAF, Checker New York Cab, BMW 2002 Cabriolet, Ford Pop 100e, Morris 1000, VW beetle.

He's very taken with the RS2 of fond memory and therefore definitely one of us. I have an open invitation to visit so I may well be reporting back - if you can stand much more of my interlopery :D
