My DRC has just been diagnosed as faulty and my car is 1 month too old to be covered under this new arrangement :( ...is it worth trying to get some good will out of Audi or just bin the whole system and go for coilovers? any suggestions?
Cheers, Steve

If it's the rears Steve, I had them replaced at Audi Brighton under warranty before you bought it from me! I'm sure they guaruntee work for 3 years or something like that? Might be worth Audi checking their records for you?

Surely they shouldn't be replacing "the rears" (or one shock as posted a few above) - have to be rplaced in pairs on the diagonal AFIK. If they don't you can be certain of failures very quickly.

Hence my collateral damage rant.

The phrase 'Bodgit and Leggit' springs to mind..

Dave, its the nearside front :( . I've opened a case with Audi CS and will hopefully hear something positive as its only 1 month older than the 6 years, but who knows...if they won't budge, I may just junk it and go for coilovers and stop using the main stealers for everything

tbh I can't remember which they replaced, could have done it diagonally as mentioned? They should have records on their systems of the replacement against your VIN.

I junked my DRC on my current 6 for PSS9's, worth every penny.

So time for an update......Sorry its been so long, but I wanted to make sure me posting on here, didn’t jeopardise the work that was going to be carried out on my car...

Well ....so as you know my shocks went again for the fourth time this year. I did the usual phone call with the dealer to book the car in and then got on to Audi CS.
They could tell that i was pretty P!ssed off and what they said next kind of amazed me. They said ..... “I think we should buy the car back off youâ€

Unfortunately need to add my DRC problem to the list!

I have a 54 plate RS6 Avant with 42K on the clock. Diagnosed by MRC (very helpful bunch) with a slight leak in the n/s/r shock. Advised to go to main dealer so went to nearest (Audi Slough) and they confirmed it for me for £71.88 (how kind). Have now been quoted £1668.67 to replace shock, new control valve, oil, pipe and full recharge.

I have a warranty with Warrantywise who sent the forms to Slough Audi and have replied to me that the problem according to Audi Slough is due to wear and tear and they will not therefore cover it. Wear and tear after 42K? Is that right, especially when there seems to be a problem with DRC judging from the Forum?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Slough Audi are USELESS.
Try another dealership, Aylesbury, Northampton or Camberely have all been pretty good.
It is NOT wear and tear and all warranties should cover it.

Have called Slough Audi who won't let me speak to the technician responsible for the diagnosis (not company policy) and the Service Desk man is "not qualified" to explain why wear and tear was the diagnosis! I await a call from the Workshop Manager...nothing since this morning. The service desk had never come across the problem before apparently!

Have contacted Audi CS and they have said they are creating a case for me and will be in touch in due course. Not sure how long that will be.

Warrantywise have said they will review the claim if I get another report from a qualified Audi Technician so I have taken your advice and contacted Audi Aylesbury who seem much more on the ball and aware of the problems. Will let them take a look and they won't charge me either (unlike Slough).

Thanks FuriousJim. Interesting price for complete renewal compared to my one corner job!

Update: Had a call from Slough Audi at 6.30 last night saying they have spoken to Warrantywise and have had it explained how to fill the claim form in properly! Apparently they had not been clear on the claim form that the "wear and tear" had been caused by an internal fault in the shock, so the wear and tear was as a result of the faulty component and Warrantywise may review the claim! Nice work if you can get away with it!

Watch this space..

Update:

Slough Audi have resubmitted forms to Warrantywise stating that the seal leak is causing a failure to the shock. Warrantywise (sponsored by Quentin Willson - I should have known better!) have now said that they will not accept the claim as there has not been an "immediate failure". In other words, as the car is still driveable then they will not pay up for repairing the leaky shock!

Warrantywise strap line: "A Warranty without Weasel Words"! They will also not refund any of my £700 per year warranty payment if I cancel because I have "attempted to make a claim". FSA rules apparently?? How does that work??

Can anyone tell me what the implications of an "immediate failure" could be except a hard ride on one side?

Sounds fishy, check their T&C's.
I cancelled my cover with Warranty Direct (a different company I know) 6 months in, whilst I was in dispute with them, and I was refunded the proportion of 'unused' cover.

Escalate the dispute to their underwriters.

i think you need to push harder with the warranty Co to their complaints dept before approaching the FSA, DRC is a sealed unit and not serviceable. Evidently the seal has failed and cause there to be a leakage. My warranty Co want wholly familiar with DRC and once they were put straight that you can identify a fault , they tend to come around. Best is get the service schematic from Audi on DRC fault finding and write a clear, concise , rationale covering letter. My warranty Co initially rejected the claim, in the end they saw the light.. anything i can do PM me....
