How quick is a tuned RS4? 0-100mph?

I would say that suggests a std b5 certainly wouldnt come out favourably with 40-50bhp less (std) I spent all day in and out of my stg 3 470bhp b5 and a std b7 my outcome was the b5 was faster in a straight line but in every other area the b7 is far superior and a superior A to B performer, the posts here already suggest that once corners are in the frame even tuned b5s are in trouble against b7s.
Of course once corners are into the equation it's slightly different.

Straight line it's a different story again.

Yes it pulled a car length on a modded B7, one that had 40bhp on other B7's on the RR day.

My car is only pushing the 430bhp with an skn map and milltek catback at the moment and i didn't lose much ground on a yamaha r6 a few months back from about 70mph right up to the 140 mark on a nice stretch of road near my house!
I knew he was giving it full beans, his front wheel was lifting and i was redlining it lol
Quite happy with that and i got a thumbs up from him once we ran out of road.
Theres not alot on the road that will do that, so much mid/top end grunt!
Can't wait till MRC have worked their magic on my car, longterm project for me, it will be more like a dtm racer by the time i'm done with it

BTW if you spend money on the remap and exhaust etc, spend some on ARBs and suspension too.. then the B7 really would be in trouble on the twisties.. b5s chassis is lighter aswell :D

Hi Pomy, agree totally with you about bike chasing straight line speed but im afraid your last statement isnt happening my b5 had the lot done allready 470bhp suspension etc and they just dont compare to b7s,blag a drive in one and take it down your favourite road and see if you can find its limits, the power delivery isnt as exciting as the b5 but you wont be feathering the turbos onto full boost on tight lower speed stuff or waiting for them to spool up,a well sorted b5 rocks in a straight line but no were else

I think that's a little unfair and like you someone who has owned both, the B5 is no poor handler, it takes a lot to throw it off course. Remember the Tiff review where the only way he could get th back end out was to use the old handbrake and dutch flick.

The B7 is a much more well planted beast and has improved technology (DRC, when it's working) better Diffs, plus it's so much newer so it should be a step ahead but on your average A road and into roundabout I can't see there being much difference. On a twisty track it would soon expose the difference though,

You would be surprised, it depends who is driving the car. If the B5 has PSS9's then it would leave the B7 for sure.

Lets hope a few B7's go to CC in July....

i think the concensus is that the b7 is a better handling car though.........as much as we hail the qualities of the b5 have to expect that its limitations....

A friend of mine does have a b7, sold his RS6 for it... he said it felt nimbler but it was lacking everywhere else for him. Unfortunately i didn't go for a drive in it...
I agree with the comments on the driver being a key element, the b7 is newer and more linear in its power delivery, but has nowhere near the tyre shredding torque of a mapped b5 (that makes a difference handling wise in and out of corners) coupled with standard suspension makes for a scary ride when pushing it.. both cars require a different driving approach to get the best from them... thing is though most of us here are amateur drivers at best and are pretty unlikely able to take these cars to their limits... just because a b5 feels like it handles worse and feels less planted than a b7 doesn't always mean its the slower car from a to b... both the b5 and b7 have a dtm racing pedigree.. i doubt many people here can say they've gone the whole hog with whats possible with regards to handling etc
I remember in an issue of EVO magazine from years back, the b5 managed 8min 10 sec around the ring during testing.. hardly embarrasing :D

I personally dont think its worth comparing, like for like may be but not new with old or vice verse.. your either happy or your not. Time and technology moves on the B7 should be better.

I also drive a ur quattro that to make corner properly needs left foot braking to slide the tail. In no way is it as planted as the B5 but i wouldn't change it for the world. Plus in a straight line it would leave a B5 & B7 for dead.. that doesnt make it better or worse just different..

Just enjoy what you got....

Absolutely agree! There are plenty of tuned UR's and S2's as well as hillclimb specials that would make mincemeat of any b7 or b5, just depends on what you do with your car and how good you are behind the wheel lol opening a can of worms here haha!

Lovely! As soon as the B5 sorts out the corners steadily, it's bye bye to everything else on the straights :D
