RS6 Plus "look"

Post by mattler » Sat May 16, 2009 9:51 pm

Thinking about de-chroming my RS6 as I think the plus looks so more agressive.
Has anyone done this??
If so is it a costly nightmare or an easy option to make the car look better?

from what I am led to believe, spraying the black trim on peels after a while
RS6 (MRC'd with econodrive) is not just for Xmas
Toyota Aygo Platinum for minimising carbon footprint.

Hi Guys, i bought my RS over 12 months ago now and unfortunately i did not consult this web site first and so bought with my heart rather than my head. Saying that i have had no serious problems with my car other than the usual DRC failure.
Shortly after purchase it was taken to KDS Keltec for paint correction, detailing and to have my chrome work sprayed black so that the car looked as good as a 22k car should (yes i was stung within months by the prices crashing!!!!).
So far after 5 months the black optics look still looks as good as the day Kelly (proprietor of KDS) sprayed them. The previous owner decided to try to copy the black optics look by using black vinyl - not very succesfully!!!!Please refer to the KDS website to view my car during the transformation, including pictures of the dreaded black vinyl.

I hope this post is of use

I started to price up the black optics trim pieces got to price the one side of the window trims and found that it was VERY expensive and complete nightmare to do, all doors have to be stripped down to fit the kits. Looking at the previous thread painting is much, much cheaper.

My final bill with Kelly was 2k, but that included all four wheels refurbished and some bodywork repairs after i let my wife loose in the car, plus four tyres, paintwork correction, detailing, a new tyre pressure sensor, a few trim pieces and of course the black optics spray, if i remember rightly the spray work was around 250 quid for the door and window surrounds, fortunately i already had the black grille and tail pipes fitted.
If you go the spray route i cannot recommend Kelly highly enough, you won't be disappointed!!!! :D
