Got my 60 bhp back

Post by Jules » Sat May 16, 2009 10:44 pm

After 2 dissapointong rolling roads,420bhp last year with a split boost pipe, then this year 395bhp . It was sorted in about 10 minutes at Unit 20,Like most people thought it was the maff and we fitted a n75 just for good measure. With Grizz's calc's which is only a guide he reckons its about 456bhp which is about what i was hoping it to be.
When driving my car it didn't particularly feel underpowered but on the way home it did feel smoother and picked up much better when accelerating from lower rev's.
There was no fault codes apart from the fool behind the steering wheel, according to Grizz  He's a funny guy :D

It just go's to show that unless you do the odd rolling rd you don't really know what bhp your running,as it show's with some of the results, some were up and even more are down.

Anyway i'm rambling now.
Cheers to Grizz and Lee,see you soon no doubt

You can get a lot more information on how your car is running from VAG-COM than a RR will ever tell you = essential piece of kit IMHO.

You need to regularly log your MAF and boost figures so you have a picture of what it's doing over time. I find it best to plot the different MAF figures on the same graph. You'll soon spot a problem (it might not be the MAF that's causing it though).

Same with boost leaks, get it checked a couple of times a year - only takes 20mins, so no big deal.

YES to your other question!

The N95 was the first Nokia with GPS built in :D

The N75, however, is an electronic air pressure regulating valve. It alters the amount of pressure in the inlet by opening the wastegate. The ECU decides how much and I think it does this by looking at the sensors in the loop and making adjustments to suit.

I guess its a bit like the boost controllers that people fit to jap cars.

Can't tell you about good/bad readings though, I'm new to VAG as well!

my audio install is also on the back burner want to do a few other things first. although i have found someone who is brilliant at removing trim and laying cables and fitting stuff in so may just do certain things in stages.

if you open your bonnet the n85 looks very much like a common grey house brick, you must hit it very hard asap with a lump hammer :biggrin3:
