Sorry, getting verbose, but in summary as I understand it, a reset ECU provides THE best settings that cannot adapt upwards (i.e. more power) as the ignition is advanced near to the upper limits.

In my experience it does not take 20 mins before it does the TBA, it's more like 2 mins.

Isnt there also a 'trick' you can do by leaving the ignition switched on for 5 mins or something? APR told me this a while back.

It isn't a trick - I read about it in an Audi Technical manual. The manual says 23mins, but there is a lot of debate about whether this is a misprint. The most reliable way is to VAG-COM it

Yeah but isnt a hard reset of the ECU differnt to plugging in a vag com and resetting the throttle body ? Im sure it is.

I have done this recently (last week) and like all these things I 'thought' my car drove better. So since I am ill at the moment and car is in garage I did it again yesterday for 20mins+. So what is it meant to do - Throttle body?

You are quite right in that they are two seperate actions (but usually, an ECU reset should be followed up with a TBA)

The thread keeps swinging between the two - so pay attention !!

so to reset the ECU, I have to unplug it? is there another way, apart from using the 'Revo' SPS3 device?

So to me it seems that it is feasible to assume 'Post Adaptation' power will be different to power outputs immediately after resetting the ECU? Anyone know by roughly what % difference this could make?

Pay attention SiTaS3 , this has been discussed above - you could try pulling the appropriate fuse.

Resetting ECU = Disconnecting battery
Throttle Body Alignment = Key in position one

yes my mistake.. Full of a cold at the mo so not 100% (my excuse anyway)

I'm off to finish my lines that I received instead of detention.

So come on, does it make a noticeable difference if the ECU is reset??

What's possible with the SPS3?

Cheers

Ben, I thought that if you use the SPS3 to change maps, the ECU basically resets itself. Certainly, past communications with REvo suggests that the SPS3 settings are subject to adaptation
