Cost of bushes?

Post by gareth215 » Fri May 08, 2009 1:21 pm

Hi, can any one give me a rough idea at to the cost of a full set of O/E rubber suspension bushes for a B5 RS4, as I am wanting to recaptire that new car feeling!?

I know you can get powerflex one for about £295 on ebay but would rather stick with O/E to avoid a harsher ride if the cost is not too bad. Alao are the bushes the same for the S4 and other quattro B5 A4s?

Cheers

I have powerflex all around, and the ride is NOT harsher at all. They squeak sometimes...but they're fine if greased properly.

OEM bushes are not sold separately IIRC. You have to buy the complete arms. They are sold as a kit for >600$ in the US.

Yes, the bushes are the same for the S4 and all the other B5 A4s. Pay attention though, some arms have different material (alu).

Cheers

do they do different compounds in powerflex? i just heard some people say they are harsh? What grease did you use and do they need to be regreased? Also any idea how long they take to fit for a full set if done by a decent mechanic (ball park is fine!)? Thanks Gareth

nope.
there's only one compound for the B5 platform, you can find a complete set on ebay.co.uk for 291£ + pp.
Copper grease works best, and it is supplied in the kit.
If they start to squeak you can re-lube them with this http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165715 .

You need a press to remove the old bushes from the arms.
And labour is quite expensive to replace all of them. (8-10 hours?? i don't remember exactly as i did it by myself in a weekend).

sorry, the control arms kit costs 375$ from 034Motorsport but it is for the front suspension only.
For the rear suspension you can buy the OEM bushes separately.
