What should MAF read?

Post by Sql_RS4 » Mon May 04, 2009 4:09 pm

I was wondering what should RS4 MAF read at VAG - mine does 270, I know highly tuned S4s in states show 300-330.

How about your rs4s

Also do you think it is possible that MAF on the way out may cause what seems like missfire at idle? It does not keep steady idle somehow and gets a bit shaky - sometimes more sometimes less.

I am trying to bring my B5 back to great condition, now I'm after all new bushes, new discs and pads all around, 710Ns, spark plugs, fluids, filters etc.

Thanks in advance!

I've read that a standard RS4 would be 280-300 g/s with a healthy MAF;mine has a custom remap and went over 350 g/s.

It is possible to clean your MAF using this product ... http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... &U=strat15

This may be all that's needed to revive it? If not then you can buy the sensors on their own from www.vastperformance.com

just looked on the vast performance site and noticed that they do a hitatchi maf replacement for the standard bosch item, question is this a direct replacement just wire up and drive or does it need remap or more? has anyone tried it and is it any good? http://vastperformance.com/shop/product ... ucts_id=31

IIRC this is for S4s as the housing is smaller than the RS4 MAF.

Thanks guys. New MAF is on the way - ordered the OEM from my local Stealership.

I felt it was a bit slower, was thinking my ass just got used to it but if it shows 270 top then I guess it less powerful now, cannot wait to fit new MAF and see if dead hps will be back!

It is hard to admit but my friend managed to beat the sh*t out of me with his new M3 recently while I used to be faster each time we tried to race earlier.

Yep, engine, then log block 003 if you can - then go WOT from 3k rpm to the redline in 3rd gear. Save the log and import it into Excel.
